I wanna learn hydro now,lol... This threads great saxby...i have never grown hydro, etc but my grower friends are always telling me it would double my harvests ,etc and this method which seems to increase yield, etc seems relatively simple for a hydro n00b like myself to learn, good info saxby:icon_salut:
hydro is easy ive done it once the nuts are expensive and the day on the chart wwhen you have to put the nutes in the water system has to be watched with care this is what make growing conditions perfect
nice plants man and that cat looks like my cat like exactly... would be weird if you were my dad growing in his room or something... lol
Your plants are looking awesome! Really filling out the screens nicely! I like that they are all diff phenos, makes it more interesting. I have a tuxedo cat too, they are the best.
Saxby, I know I'm new here, but I just read your journal. Although, I am not a huge fan of CFL's, I think you are a perfect example on how to use them properly. Your grow rocks dude! May I ask, are you flowering with cfls too? Peace
Thanks everyone for stoppin in, and for the kind words. dgreg, you got me, I am your daddy, lol, J/K man. Cannagirl, actually there are 3 strains the screened plants are Blacklight and empress the 2 plants in the back are pacific aire clones. Videoman, I veg with cfl, I flower for the first 4 weeks under 400mh the switch to 1000mh for the 5th week though finish.
So I'm watering my girls this morning and my Blacklight is throwing nut sacs all over, opps, he had me fooled. I have got to get better at sexing pre-flowers. So the Hempy grow is now down to three ladies.
Looking good Sax!! I'm in the early stages of deciding what method to grow forward with and I'm really digging this method. Seems very simple and effective. Think I'm gonna give it a try. Hi Ho Hi Ho off to the nursery we go :eusa_dance: What nutes are you using?
hey, Im not a hydro guy for 1 reason..... too much equip. and Im lazy.... wait, thats 2 reasons, oh well.. but!!! this looks very cool and Im thinking of switching my ways around here... my question is... how much run-off are you seeing, I would be concerned that in the resivoir (sp) there would be a buildup of nutrients..... or am I just way off and being too stoned.... ?
Here's week 2 of flower. /monthly_2007_05/57a6c95b4bbfd_wk2-1.(Custom).jpg.19362b584873772a047d1ece0d00b361.jpg /monthly_2007_05/57a6c95b5186f_wk2-4.(Custom).jpg.bc37db7dd1f673111b1f4291e2a8c96c.jpg /monthly_2007_05/57a6c95b573df_wk-2.(Custom).jpg.978e6ba24e10d4cc9624eb656013295e.jpg
saxby, Questions for you, I'm trying the hempy method but in a tote with multiple plants, going to weed (haha) it out to the stongest two. But anyways, I'm using the fox farms and was wondering, I know everything I read said full strength, but you did 1 teaspoon to a gallon right? I just scared of root rot on my first grow, was going to go dwc, but your thread convinced me to try hempy. Also, do you see any draw backs to 2 maybe three sharing a tote bin, I think its 28 gallon or something.
I have been using nutes every other water the last couple days. I was getting some leaf tip burn. As far as multiple plants goes I think that will work just fine. Good luck and keep us posted
Update picsOk here we are at around day 27. /monthly_2007_05/57a6c9628bbd6_sat1.(Custom).jpg.0f06616a60d355d1131a82607828f6bf.jpg /monthly_2007_05/57a6c962922a9_sat3.(Custom).jpg.ff147b10f276cd831d3f6737c6e9dd6a.jpg /monthly_2007_05/57a6c962978af_sat4.(Custom).jpg.ebe33b288b528d4b792173bfba6bd2c7.jpg
Saxby, I've had leaf burn switching back to 1/4 strength. But the odd thing was leaf burn only on one plant (out of 5). Also, is there anything you've seen that can be inproved on from the postings on hg420? I read that full strenght nute right away was the way to go there, but I found that not to be true in my case. Is there anything else I should know about before it happens?
Hi nipple, I found out today that Hempy's friend Jesse uses gh nutes. Maybe with those you can go full strength. I am letting my plants dry out for 2 days, then I am going to use plain water for 2 or 3 days. After that I am going to start at 1/4 strength and go from there. At lest that's the plan, to deal with the slight leaf curling (clawing) I am getting on the pacific aire (the blacklight is fine). I am happy with the growth rate and early bud production so far though.
Update picsI guess it's been about 7 or 8 days since last pics. I had the girls on plain pH'ed water from last Sunday until today with the exception of some cal mag'ed water Friday, due to leaf clawing. I believe they are ok now. I started restarted their feeding rate at 1/3 strength today and I will play that by ear and bump that up gradually. They still have about 25 days to go if I chop around the 60 day mark. /monthly_2007_06/57a6c964d827e_sun5.(Custom).jpg.5a0dd53655bd8930fc776ae10172f93c.jpg /monthly_2007_06/57a6c964dcd9f_sun4.(Custom).jpg.e03f747900914249312dda686c0dfc38.jpg /monthly_2007_06/57a6c964e2f9d_sun3.(Custom).jpg.d8f116d04e596161409bbbde0612fea6.jpg /monthly_2007_06/57a6c964e9daa_sun1.(Custom).jpg.493289c51e89730e62a640861422fa68.jpg

UrBigBuddie thank you for the kind words, If you go back and read the 1st paragraph of this thread you have the whole method including assembly, feeding, growing instructions. Total cost for me was $37.50 to put together. Considering that I have enough of everything for at lest 5 runs that's reasonable. giant bag of perlite..................................15.00 giant bag of vermiculite............................15.00 6-9.5 liter buckets...................................7.50
