    T6, you've almost convinced me!!!

sticky, I grow in a tighter space too, but you don't need a res and all the pumps and setup and shit like that for hempy, do you?

as an avid gardener, i love growing in soil, but if hempy can increase my yields and shorten my grow time, i'm seriously considering it.....

Hempy is just a container or bucket filled with perlite. There is a hole in the side of the bucket about 2 inches up from the bottom for the water to drain out. Thats it. You pour the nutes in until it runs out the hole. The res in the bottom below the hole lets the roots go down and suck out the nutrient.

Here is my hydro system. It is just 10 gallon buckets with drains in the bottom. 5 gallon bucket rez's underneath. Ha Ha not our rez the water rez!! I just take the buckets and pour them into the container.

I also grow in Lava cinders so I guess I am the only one on here that does that but I have my own theory about that.

I learned this method 20 years ago for a simple system and though some laugh I still use it today. It grows me around 3 lbs a grow.

i never get tired of the dirt HYDRO guys. who's best

Mine is cause I do both. Useless sorry to disagree having had a 11.50 quarter mile pinto with a 440mag HP and a727 torqueflight .

And Cris I have seen the switch from the Lucas to advanced with over a 50% increase in weight and the shot was way stronger. And this was a grower that's been using general hydro for 30 years. It just cost him almost twice as much. He only switched after one of our circle got clones from him and he sampled the end product.

AND AS FAR AS BIG BOYS AROUND HERE ALL THE BIG BOYS ETHER PLAY IN DIRT OR MUD DEPENDING ON SEASON. RAIN AND SNOW MONSTERS IN MUD SUN AND DRY ROUNDYROUND ON CLAY:roffl:

As far as better I find after they cure the soil keeps more weight and enhanced flavor I dont care if its flushed for a month.

Right now at work I've got a DWC waterfarm wit a controller bucket and Res with 3 units running the useless formula on hot peppers. Right next to them is our custom soil with 3 peppers also. At a foot tall now the soil I started. A week later is the same size. As the general 3part useless formula ..y

At home I'll let you know cause I've got 3 waterfarm DWC buckets. I just started all 3 have identical Golden Queens. One will be useless, one floranova, and supernatural. I should take and post it but I forget to keep track of flower times. Let alone take meds or pix on a regular basis .master growers are record adjusta freaks green thumb gardeners with experience give them what they FEEL THEY NEED at the time they feel is right. I'm both

    prove it. advanced nutrients did

Your theory sounds good but listening to the words in my head as I read your post tells me you've never used advanced nutrients full line with the connoisseur. Otherwise you wouldn't have said that:not-worthy:

Id say you might get good results in soil if you really know what your doing and tweak the hell out of it but with hydro the average grower can achieve excellant results far exceding his soil grows.

    your completely correct

I wouldnt waste my money on it, why drop $300 for what $100 does?

I've watched enough grows, listened to enough remarks from quality growers to make my own personel assumption/conclusion......im not knocking what AN does, but more so why does it cost so much for what it does and why does it need 50 bottles in the lineup?:not-worthy: :not-worthy: :not-worthy: :alienwink:

    Prove it!

Sorry dude, you talk a good game, but you haven't shown much to prove it. You've gone through 3 different hydro systems in a year, and countless varieties of nutes, and you say soil is better. Maybe if you stuck with something long enough to dial it in, you might know better. Hell, judging by what pics you do have, you can't even keep your soil plants from burning. I guarantee a properly dialed in hydro system can BLOW AWAY any soil mix out there. I'd bet my entire setup on it.

Keep giving your money to the AN marketing machine, and buy some more Kushy Kush. I don't claim to be a pro (or a master gardener ) but I know who the real pros are, who have done the actual testing, and I'm following them. There's a whole lot of poundage being grown around here on General H, and I'll bet a lot of unused AN nutes in the closets as well.

I'm not trying to start shit, I just think people should back up what they say.

    Prove us wrong!

    Peace

    big buds good secret

Not saying HYDRO is bad not promo AN just know what's good to use in soil mixes from working at a grow shop and tuning the stuff from customer feedback. And talking to all the Reps from the companies I know how the products are made to work so in soil with a few tricks I can do as good in soil as any HYDRO. The only reason for me to use it is experiments with nutes for faster triumphs and disasters and I see quicker changes. And my patients get stuff with me NOT SPENDING TIME ON THERE PLANTS AND GET MORE TIME FOR MY ORGANIC SOIL NUTES FOR A CLEAN smoother flavor. And I don't need to flush for 14 days. :thumbs-up:

And I test different brands as they intend it to be mixed. So I can give customers advice on what to do with there program to increase harvest quality or fix plant problems. I gain knowledge with every new test. :thumbs-up:

Hydro is fucking intimidating. I know lotta people say how easy it is. But I dunno I'm still growing in soil b/c I havent been able to figure out how to do hydro.

I'm just now trying Hempy and it's not turning out as well as I thought. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Hell, it's in the Solo cup stage and it's not growing any faster than it's siblings in soil. In fact, it is actually growing slower. So even Hempy aint as easy as people make it sound.

Now I'm thinking about trying some hydro buckets. Everybody says it so simple "All you need is an airstone and an airpump and you've got it made." It's not that easy. I have a TON of questions about it cuz I can't figure it out for myself.

I'd LOVE to go hydro. I'd LOVE to. But I need some serious help. Short of somebody being here in person and showing me, I dunno how I'm gonna figure out how to put it together. And then there's the whole problem with managing the nutes and the water levels and root rot and drifting Ph and everything like that.

So, Steelcity, that's why I haven't gone hydro yet. But for fucksake, bring me into the light!

I've grown hydro, aero, and dirt. I settled on dirt.

Dirt has a much better buffer. I know HOW to grow, I just can't DO it perfectly all the time.

I have a real life and can't be changing 200 pound reservoirs all the time... so it cuts down on maintenance work compared to hydro that way.

Any small mechanical error in almost any hydro setup will seriously mess stuff up (leaks, etc). I'm in a rented apartment, get along well with my landlord, and want to keep it that way.

Any error in the PH or TDS meters messes with your plants hard. Very common, since almost everyone I know uses cheap-ass meters.

finally, dirt is cheaper, the pots are mobile, and if someone who doesn't have specialist knowledge has to take care of my plants I can trust them to not mess it up, or at least not bad enough to kill them. That's happened 3 times so far in hydro.

Oh, did I mention the very real risk of me accidentally leaving my air or water pumps unplugged after res changes? killed a crop that way, too.

Scotty, that's what I noticed about Hempy as well. DWC (bubbleponics) IS easy as far as work goes, but it requires a little more knowledge and a lot more attention to detail. I know almost all the info needed is on this site, since this is where I learned to grow that way. I'll be happy to answer any questions that pop up though, just shoot me a PM.

Oh, and by the way... If I wasn't a student I'd be running a 12 bucket RDWC setup in probably a 12x15 or larger room. I'd definitely switch over for the massively increased yields if I ever want to accept the increased time and work burden from running RDWC. It's my backup-backup plan.

I think if hydro were as easy as its cracked up to be, a LOT more of us would be doin it.

  19. Check out chris' 9 bucket RDWC thread on here, there is a link to a thread on ICMag that has the most simple instructions known to man. Literally pictures for every single step, and even has a product list of what to get. I know chris has 2 setups running right now, and I have a 12 bucket set up, I'd be more then willing to help guide you down that road. The rate of growth with RDWC is just simply amazing. With the huge cut in veg time, it will allow me an extra harvest a year-- think about that!

With the hempy, iirc you made your holes very low on the cup. Those roots are trying and trying to reach that little bit of rez. Once they do, you will see a huge increase in growth. I have grown soil and hempy for 18 months, and just made the switch to hydro. I honestly don't see me going back. I may keep some mothers in hempy so I can have a good source for clones at any time.
