Um ok. You're welcome to your viewpoint. I personally think it's disgusting and wrong. It's a civil rights issue because special tax advantages, rights of survivorship, and property ownership status are conferred upon some because of lifestyle or sexual preference that are denied to others because of a differing sexuality.

IMHO the answer isn't extending the special rights conveyed upon married couples further, it's to end any preferential status for married's thereby making it a non issue. Marriage is then something between you, your spouse and whatever spiritual higher power you call upon to recognize such a partnership. But if that can't be achieved anything that lessens the disparity is favorable.

Unless of course you believe sexual identity is a choice...then the entire argument gets turned on its ear. But surely we're enlightened enough to realize homosexuality is not a choice for the vast majority of the gay population.

I like comedy to lighten the mood. Louis CK sums it up pretty well.

You honestly do not see the hypocrisy with that line of thinking.....hmm....a certain group wanting special treatment....CHURCH'S! Marriage IS special treatment where certain GOVERNMENTAL rights are bestowed onto a certain group of people but not another. That is constitutionally illegal in the US, biased, and this bigoted nothing of an amendment, like all the others, WILL be struck down by the courts in the years to come.

Gay marriage was already illegal in this State, now civil unions are illegal for gay or straight couples.

You can keep your churches out of my politics and I'll keep my politics out of your churches....unless of course *I* get to decide WHO'S church we're going to follow.

Ok here is my old ass opinion on this. First the word marriage to me is between a man & a woman that is how it always has been. Just like a dad is a man & a mom is a woman that is what it is. I have no problem with gay unions & to have all the right that a marriage has . I'm not religious & have a gay daughter it just we're suppose to change the meaning of words just to be politically correctI don't think so.-Bud

It has nothing to do with political correctedness. Everyone should be able to marry the one they love. Marry, not civil union, marry. One person's definition of marriage should not effect anothers. Don't like guns, don't get one. Don't like abortions, don't have one. Don't like alcohol, don't drink it. Don't like gay marriage, don't get one. Don't like your right's taken away? Don't take away the rights of others.

Just because you have an opinion of what you think marriage should be does not give you the right to force your views onto others. This is a shameful and sickening topic and I can't even believe we are discussing it. A lot of people believe our smoking is very wrong. Does that mean they get to force us not to? By being here, breaking federal law, our answer is "fuck no they don't get to decide!". So why should this be any different?

I'm not forcing my opinion on anybody Your the one changing the meaning of words . I just stated what the word marriage meant to me key word {ME} Plus I stated gay couples should have the same rights as everyone else. It shameful & sickening topic only if someone doesn't see it your way-Bud

P.S. would you like to BAN me for having a opinion

How does another person's definition of a word affect my personal interpretation? It only has power if I choose to give it. Far from being politically correct the belief of same sex marriage is to the core of personal freedoms and equality under the law. It's one of those paradoxes the conservative party has gotten itself into by aligning in the 60's with the religious right. A party of individual freedoms above all else has chosen to draw a limitation around the bedroom. Don't make sense do it?

Besides, we're assured equal protection and equal freedoms under law, not freedom from being offended.

:rofl6: It may say that on paper but it does not happen. The rich and powerful get away with murder. The poor go to jail. Prisons are full of the "equally protected".

    Peace.....
