I meant as a whole, not as individuals. And there will be no draft because there will be no boots on the ground. A country that small requires no troops other than UN peace keepers. We don't even need a draft because of the size of our military. Even the generals of all the branches don't want that because the military is more efficient with technology than it is with grunts.
Totally not saying it is 'probably' going to happen or anything, a draft I mean, but it sure could. Syria now, more later. We have been at war almost as long as we have been a country. Just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, going in I mean :dontknow:
Have to say a draft will not happen. Not for going into Syira anyway. We wil bomb the shit out of um. In my opinion we as a country wil never have a draft again. Technology has reached a point that we will never have invade again. If we need to destroy a government we can do it from over the horizon. Peace....
Yeap, never gonna see another draft stopped that after Nam. Lion, we use chemical weapons daily against our citizens....tear gas....it's absolutely illegal to use except against your own citizens. This isn't our fight, this isn't citizens trying to overthrow a government...it's terrorist trying to recreate an Afghanistan, a haven for them from us I agree something should be done if proven absolutely chemical weapons were used by Assad, but even Obama had to back off this direct claim http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-202_162-57601450/obama-putin-in-battle-over-purported-syria-chemical-weapons-evidence-at-g-20-summit-in-russia/ I'll put it this way, I believe the Russians as much as I believe Obama
I see what you are saying about the tear gas, but that generally doesn't kill mass amounts of people in a horrible, horrible way. I also get what you are saying by proof. I just think what has been presented is enough proof. Again, the rebels don't have the ability to utilize chemical weapons, Assad does.
People should be very against chemical weapons. Being against them doesn't mean America should get into the war there. I think they should go and show a really good job of sitting on the sidelines and taking care of refugees. And continue in like manner after this war ends without selling any country in the world however as many guns as they want.
I find the fact that the CIA and other US government agencies have already been "helping" the rebel forces utterly bewildering. I'm embarrassed and ashamed to be a part of such double talk. Either we are in or we aren't. We are sending mixed messages, confusing the world, making ourselves look stupid, etc. And what do the CIA spooks on the ground in Syria think of all this? Talk about brainwashing!
Fully agree with you FF. The fact UK sold them the fuckin sarin gas is without doubt the worst thing iv heard my Govt do since Tony Blair pretended Iraq had WMD's. Stoner Thought for the day: Whose to say the Russians didnt fire the nerve gas, stir the nest up a bit hoping USA staggers into a brawl?Putins gunning for a fight with Obama. The fact he offered Snowden a safe haven testifies to that
The sarin thing is fucked, if proven (which is where we differ) we should take out some of his assets.....only if proven that he himself did it. I'm still not convinced the rebels didn't do it to draw the US in. And Hank has a good point, look at us, the US....the biggest arms dealer out there, the ones who used nukes, chemical warfare in Nam...who are we? Specially when we would do it if this country was ending Another war needs absolute proof
But nippie your never gonna find a smoking gun with Assads fingerprints on it man, even if its proven the regime did it he would blame it on a defecting general or some shit. Lets be serious here,we KNOW he ordered it,we simply cant prove it. I just saw this from ABC on my FB,stating how 48hrs bombing from USA could do more damage to Assad and the regime than 2 years of rebels fighting. Thats all we wanna see here, the big guy helping the little guy out.Especially when the the little guys enemy has a big russian bear brawler in his corner. USA truly bewilder me,you guys shout War when a war is unjust (aka Iraq)then when its slighty more justifiable you guys shout leave it be. Can i ask something,if it was a republican Govt saying that Syria needed dealt with would ALL you guys still be against it or is it an "Obama thing" (genuine question BTW) http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/us-eyes-broader-syrian-strike-include-bombers/story?id=20178823
Assad is warning of retaliation... but in the SAME statement he offers to give Russia all his chemical weapons so they cant be used further. I dont get it,im watching him on the news saying "theres nothing,no weapons" but then Putin is offering to take them away from Syria. Someones .To me it sounds like a touch of guilt and also a touch of "cover our arses and get rid of these weapons before people see the 'made in russia' stamps on them". Either way it reeks of a man clinging onto power. I see Obama is trying to get the senate and congress onside... but the consitution says a President can go to war with ANYONE over a 90 day period without congress backing.... so why the delay cos we ALL know hes gonna hit Syria regadless
The news says Putins the man.... bringer of peace type shit It just said on the news their all willing to chow down this Russian "Decommissioning of "WMDs" platter that Putins fronting on Assads dollar. Obama will restreat proclaiming his hollow victory and they will all grant Syria another 6 months tops to hurry up and shell and shoot the rest of the woman and kiids that are left so someone can be declared a winner. It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth, from the UK giving them sarin agents to the USA not installing a no fly zone months ago.To the UN being impotent and Russia being the evergrowing pain in the ass and Assad being an Asshat. Meanwhile we'll foot the bill here in the UK for Turkeys redevelopment, that'll be "our effort". Apparently everyones happy to save face... or agree to disarmament of Syrias "WMDs" (they throw that word about everywhere now dont they?). Putin comes out it looking like the big man and Assad gets to stay in power albeit as Russiais gimp. Obama,he just looks different past few times iv seen him.Hes either tryin to portray the anguish and sorrow of his job or he realises someone actually pulls his strings,im not sure which. A sorry episode for all concerned except Russia. Even Assad is on borrowed time no matter the outcome.Give him a year before hes in the hague on war crimes trials or living as an ex pat in Dubai:icon_rolleyes:
