Let me set you guys straight on a couple of things: 1st, Aggy, it was 58,000+ KIA in nam, not 158,000 2nd, There is a huge difference between this war and nam. In nam, we never tried to win. The goal there was not to lose, and to secure the RVN. If we would have wanted to win we would have invaded the north instead of letting it be a sanctuary. In this war, our objective is to win, capture Baghdad and replace Sadaam. In my opinion, Viet Nam was a waste. We should never fight a war we don't want to win. We want to win this one and we will.
Using Rangerdangers logic makes him responsible for every person killed in a terrorist attack. Ranger - your posts have made more sense to me than any of the reactionary rhetoric espoused by your fellow countrymen and, as someone who was on an "ANTI-WAR" demo at the weekend, it pleases me to realise that ordinary Americans don't want to see any more deaths in this unjust war. I have access to all the major U.S. and European news channels and, much as it pains me to watch mass murder on T.V. as if it were some horrific reality game-show, the difference is incredible - the BBC and CH4(UK) have presented facts in a non-subjective way whilst the US media seems to have swallowed the same bitter pill of phoney patriotism as the Bush administration and the "PRO-WAR" posters in this forum. The American news channels were today more inclined to make a pariah out of Michael Moore for having an opinion which doesn't normally get aired,in a country that supposedly defends the right of free-speech - this exhibits the same hypocrisy as whining about American POW's on Iraqi TV when the day before I saw Iraqi POW's paraded and screamed at (in english-at least the Iraqi's spoke english to the soldiers! Can't imagine what Guantanamo Bay must be like!) Most newsworthy points to note today; 1.The Red Cross said that Article 13 of the Geneva Convention states that NO POW's should be seen on television. 2.Fox News Business Analyst recommends buying stock in Halliburton(although HE doesn't already own shares...!) Ranger - KEEP THE FAITH - this war serves no purpose other than to get jr. re-elected - you have my respect BTW: in the time it's taken to write this i have seen dead Iraqi soldiers in a foxhole, one of them still holding a white flag; more Iraqi POW's and that Basra's had NO electricity or water for 3 days - this isn't al-jazeera or Fox, just FACTS! We have the benefit of reasonable news over here. from what i see, the us have killed more uk troops then Sadam. The US couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Bombing has created humanitairian tradgy, no water. And no way of landing supplies. Area 'taken' by us is later taken back by the Iraqi's, you have captured soldiers to prove it. Bush is attempting to 'murder' Hussain, no trial, just kill him. and I saw Iraqi POW on news well before our side, yet Bush calls it humiliating. HYPOCRITES What wil be left after you **** off? Another bomb site and another King to be overthrown by the comman people?

I don't mean to stereo type. It's a big place with many different views. I am sick and upset to see our lads die in stupid incidents. We are good at fighting but seem to lose more through accidents when working with others. That pisses me off, big time. We are following and seem to be mopping up after the US has done its bit. Too many cooks and all that, we should stay at home till your finished, then see what's left. But to get our share, Bush wanted to see UK deaths too. He should be tried for war crimes in my opinion.

No waiting,(and no need to shout), Bush wanted to see that other countries were willing to make the sacrifice that he is willing with your boys. Personally I don't think it was planned but he's covered his arse. We all lose good people and he is able to say that the fight wasn't US v Iraq. My patriotic nature would make me fight in my country against any invadeing force, despite a shitty government. You would too I'd guess. No one wants casualties, on either side, but you must accept that invadeing another country will lead to some. To avoid the tragedy more could have been done to solve this peacefully, not Bushes attitude but one echoed by the UN and the western world. I honestly believe that this is NOT about liberating the people, but freeing the oil tied up in an anti-american state. streakeruk how can you compare US marines with the Royal Marines.The Royal Marines are a small special force (about 7,000). THE US Marines number about 675,000.If you put up UK special forces against US special forces it would make for an intesting battle
Last time I checked, the US and the UK were on the same side. And since the war has started it is going until it is finished whether you like it or not. The US set out for a specific reason, and they will get it done so no matter how much anyone bitchs and complains the war will go on until those objectives are met. The only thing anyone can hope for now is a quick resolution.
