day 23-24 something like that


omg the hydros are exploding after that light bloombastic dose. you can't see it in this picture, but they're much more frosty and the stink of euphoria is palpable outside the room, with the door closed, for the first time ever. YAAAY


just went in and rotated the soils today. one of them is slightly small and had to go right under the bulb. more pics with next watering in a couple days.

Day 28 - Start of week 5


EVERYONE GO BUY BLOOMBASTIC RIGHT EFFING NOW!


- Plant Care -


The soil plants got their end of week 4 watering, and got their first dose of Bloombastic last night. The overnight growth of bud mass, terpenoids, and resin production was INSANE. The stuff is expensive as all hell, but well worth it.


The hydro plants are getting upped from full base nutes and half strength of the minimum dose of Bloombastic to half base nutes and the full min dose.


The Soil plants got their watering a few hours late, so there are a few yellowed leaves. oops. Think I stunted them slightly.The Ebb and Flow plants are showing insane growth, as usual.


- Future Plans Babble and Questions -


I am thinking about ways to maximize my output.I'm debating upgrading to 3 1000w lights instead of 4 600w ones for the next grow, and am considering making a 4-6 site RDWC to go into that box. Think I should?


as is, my 600w lights are about 6-8 inches from the tops of the plants, and the girls get bleached from too many lumens before they get burned. Great efficiency, but I think I can use more light for the space, and I also think I'd get faster growth rates in hydro than soil now that I know how to do DWC perfectly. I just don't wanna pay for it.


One more thing... this is my most successful grow to date. Think I'm doing appropriately well for about a $2500 setup for largely personal use? I can keep working on productivity increasing and time management techniques, but have no idea where I am skill and/or output wise compared to other growers in roughly similarly sized ops. The only comparison I have is a grower with 10+ years of experience in all sized operations, who claims he can get 6-7 pounds out of a box my size EASILY.


It's important because at this point additional equipment (RO water filter, RDWC or Aeroponic buckets, CO2 equipment, etc) is getting exponentially more expensive, and I'm getting kinda tired of reinvesting into this hobby.

oh, and before anyone says it, I know the E&F plants are showing signs of Mg deficiency. Again... my patient never listens to me. Long story short, he won't let me put epsom salts in his reservoir. He's being silly... Oh well.


I may just sneak some in there when he's not looking if I really feel like being a brat.

 

Day 30 - HALFWAY THROUGH


I got bored, so I got high and just... stared at my girls for a few hours. It was excellent--- It felt just like I thought it would, back when I only dreamed about growing. I'm a little eccentric. so sue me.


The lighter is up against the cola nearest to the camera, I believe.

 

They look great.:good job: I stare at my flowering girls quite often. I can sit and smoke and just watch the fan blow their leaves around, every once in a while pinching a bud and marveling at the wonderful aroma. It's mesmerizing.

 

Day 31... I love taking pictures.


I know I'm doing this compulsively but I can't help it. i quit playing video games and need something to obsess over.


Everything got a raised dose of Bloombastic. this is the front left Ebb and flow plant, but don't try and use it as reference against previous pictures because the plants got rotated monday. That site seems to be one of the best lit spots in the box.


Figured out which strains were which in the E&F. I have 5 Euphoria and 1 F13. the F13 doesn't like the low nute doses very much, and is a much yellower shade of green overall. 8 Euph and 4 F13 total in the box, which is just fine with me since the Euph is more desirable in every way.


I'm off to go fondle my ladies some more. peace fellas!

 

Day 33


The pistils started browning a few days ago. They seem to be maturing faster than my previous crops, and the E&F (which received Bloombastic a week earlier) looks like it's about 4 days older than the soil side. I think the hydros are likely to get chopped up to a week before the soil girls.


A couple pics off the runty soil F13 (2 different colas) and a leaf picture... is this nute burn? only a couple plants are showing some variation of this.

Wind is possible too. I don't really have room for my oscillating fan in there and the plants grew up to its level, so it does blow pretty hard on the plant(s) closest to it.

Day 36 (right before lights out)


well, the girls have been coming along nicely. no major problems that I can tell except the F13 in the Ebb and Flow, which is yellowing slightly. My patient will decide what to do about it; i'm tired of him ignoring my input.


The rest of the girls look good. Only took shots of the Ebb and Flow side this time. Only the middle MH light is on. Getting excellent continued development, and the hairs have been turning colors for about a week now (cellphone camera is too bad to capture hair colors or frostiness). The plants under the MH for the longest amount of time look like they'll be mature about 3-4 days before the rest of the garden.


The soil plants have smaller buds than the ebb and flow, and the buds are leafier. It's still excellent, though.

And the next round coming: 5 Raspberry cough farthest away in E&F pots (that I don't get to keep), 5 Ice and 4 White Rhino (ice bottom left rhino bottom right). the discoloration is because of the light angle and is not burning. There is a little discoloration, but only because I've been giving them low nute doses to keep them small.

Thanks for the support man! They're probably about 3-3.5 months old right now, since I tend to keep them small and give them plenty of veg time. I like old, well established ladies.


But I gotta say... These girls probably aren't getting harvested until valentine's day or the week before it... still have 4 weeks minimum! The strains can both be cut at eight or nine weeks, but the F13 especially looked like it wanted more time, and the Euphoria wasn't as couchlocky as it could have been in the past.


And I'm totally going to bully my patient into helping. If he doesn't i'm charging the hell out of him. which I don't mind either. If I do it as a 1 man job, it'll probably take me about 5 days.

Day 44 (yesterday)


Hydro plants are starting their flush this week. Soil girls are starting flush next sunday. I just realized a few days ago that I suck at metric to standard conversions, and have been giving the girls half of the recommended bloombastic dose through the whole cycle. next round should be even better.


My patient has decided to "flush with nutrients" for some strange reason... so not really flush, just give half strength feedings until chop. He's a super nice guy, but I'm totally stoked on not to have to waste my breath after this crop trying to tell him how to use HIS system, thank you very much.


Girls are coming along well. The F13 will need a week longer than the Euphoria, maybe even a few days past that. All the soils are looking slightly toasty, but I'm thinking it was from improper watering while I was out of town for the weekend. I wish I had a better camera, but the buds are greasy as all hell and the trichs look like something one of the old timers on this site grew... they're easily visible to the naked eye. I'm attributing the success to the strains and Bloombastic (seriously guys, try this one) and not to anything in particular that I did, but still, this is the first crop I've had with results that met my minimum expectations for myself. The next should have many more and much, much bigger nuggets.


A note on the strains... Euphoria is a GODLY strain. some of the best I've grown so far. the F13 is less so. It is a 9+ week strain, and tends to foxtail more than other strains i've seen flowered out recently (a trait I don't much care for). It does yield a little heavier (meaning it yields VERY heavily) but it tends to exhaust its own supplies of nitrogen in flowering. I have never seen a sign of Phosphorous def in this strain in several different runs and setups, but Nitrogen has been a problem for almost every grower. F13 also has a lot less bag appeal than the Euph (which purples with a long flush and looks like light brown sugar), but surprisingly smells better after a month plus cure than the Euph (fresh or short cure Euph is better). Our community of friendly growers up here has collectively decided not to keep F13 around among us, but the Euphoria will stay forever.


weight estimates anyone? 4'x7' space is being used by the girls, 3 600w lights, 2 hps 1 mh, some CO2 boosting, and there are 12 plants from pretty heavy yielding strains in there.

EDIT: Dammit! that dumbass changed his res yesterday and phed it to about 4.5... Oh, and he unplugged the heater because he preferred 50 degree water to 68 degree water. Y'all have no idea how much I wanna strangle him sometimes. too bad he works out 6 days a week and trains MMA.
