Growing myths debunked (open discussion)

From my experience if you properly cure your buds you dont need to flush plants. Why would you stop feeding the plant when it needs it most. You get that chemical taste because you are in a hurry to either sell it or smoke it.be patient. cure it for 3 or more weeks and I gaurantee your buds will taste great without flushing. now if you have overfertilized thats a diffrent story.Then I would flush. Peace!

When I heard that one, I almost had a spasm. I certainly lurched in pain.


Another one...Trichome production continues after harvest...not true...but a good cure can release/activate other psychoactive materials. That seems to me where that one would have originated.

 

ahh the one about feeding your plant speed(methanphetamine) to make your plants grow like nothing! lol

 

There's a link between this theory and the "bongwater will make your plants grow like fucking MAAAD, and they'll be xtra potent because of the thc in bongwater" theory.

Root systems grow faster during lights out. For this reason I do 18/6. However, I have done the 24/0 many times, and the growth seems to be slightly better. Never took measurements and recorded the data though.


If it's not flushed I can sure taste P & K no matter how long the cure. I have kept unflushed buds in jars for 6 months before, still taste like shit. Better than fresh for sure, but still not top quality.

 

Couldn't ferty tasting bud also depend on the nutes? I have always religiously flushed except for the last grow which i was in a hurry and ran straight water for 24 hours. Those buds taste no different then buds flushed for 7 days, i also only use PBP.

 

a thought on the menstural blood. i have heard of dead animals being planted underneath your plant and as the animal decomposes fertalises your plant. menstural blood is an organic liquid? "blood and bone" fertaliser? i wouldnt quite throw that one out the window.......

Hello all...first time poster here.


Although not really a myth, per say, I see a lot of people freaking out over what is going to naturally occur in the (all) plants...for instance:


"the very tip of my healthy plant is yellowish! What's wrong?" - all new growth in everykind of plant life is a lighter color than the rest of the plant. The faster it's growing, the more it will be lighter than the rest of the plant.


I would suggest to anyone looking to grow their own smoke this simple primer for plant growth...start an herb garden. Not that kind of herb, my friend. Grow some basil, some parsley. I'm on my second season of herb gardening on my balcony and I've only grown from seed. Basil, parsly, thyme, rosemary, oregano, lavender, dill, camomille, and mint at the moment. It will teach you to have patience with you children without wasting your $50 (enter breed lab here) seeds.

Myth I read around sometimes. Smokin weed and blowing the smoke on the plants is good for it.
