the one about hanging your plants upside down to get more thc. well if you hang your plants up root ball in all it will take longer to dry which there for the weed would be better . taste and all that shit, but no it would not produce more thc. longer u take to cure better the pot right . so this takes longer to dry compared to clipping the buds off .i could see how people got this confused there is room in there for confusion

    yup.

dead wrong about the flushing yes.Flushing is ESSENTIAL for completing the growing process and one of the reasons for doing this is to;FLUSH ANY EXCESS CHEMICALS THAT CAN MAKE YOUR WEED TASTE NASTY.This aint a myth it states it clearly in BOOKS and grow guides,websites,etc...Peace

Ed Rosenthal says for N defficiency URINATE on plants?

Talking about growing myths....iv just read a post in the beginners lounge where a dudes plant has a N defficiency and he says he's got an Ed Rosenthal book that says URINE will cover this defficiency.... cant believe Ed would give out advice like that man!Shit thats like just pouring ammonia on your plants and expecting them to prosper!Peace:)

there is a way to use urine for your plants in low solution... look up humanures on the net and there is alot of interesting stuff on it... I wouldn't mark it up as a myth, but I wouldn't go piss on my plants either .

    interesting...need to check it out.

So a kind of DILUTED version COULD in theory in certain cases be beneficial to the grow?Interesting.Peace:)

It wouldn't be ideal but would work as long as you have the microbes in the soil to strip away the basic nitrogen atoms from the ammonia and ammonium molecules contained in urine for the plant to use as a nitrogen supplement but would probably need to be dilute, just seems a little iffy cause i know i have no idea what the ammonia concentration in my piss would be also seems there might be other things in urine that may cause more harm than good. So its not really a myth just a broke dick way of handling things.

  8. Mr. Wakenbake

    Mr. Wakenbake Latae Sententiae Excommunication

yes in fact it can, but you can't just go and piss on your plants or you are going to kill them... urine is a waste from the body high in nitrogen and other micronutrients.

Not saying it's the best thing to use but I wouldn't mark it off as a myth.. just don't unzip your fly and whiz on your babies or you will get a dead crop.Dilution is the key to using urine..

Hell look on most chem fert's and you see that the N part of most ferts is refered to being derived from Urea...which is aka Urine.. from animals ...

  9. skunky

    skunky labor smoke'n lumberjack

yup mikey i wouldn't do it either cause like i said some shit in there is more than likely doing more harm than good. also you have no idea how much to dilute it, i mean look at the nitrogen percentage levels in your nutes and try to figure out how to get anywhere close to that mixing piss and water. ha just had a mental picture of someone doing this pissing in water and using a PPM meter to measure it out! HAHA

lol I bet that is one stinky way to grow plants.. using your own feces and urine lol... but seriuosly man look up Humanures on the web.. some interesting stuff.

I know everyone fears the seeding of their crops.

Hermaphrodite plants are a danger to that prized harvest; however, we should open our eyes and see what is real.

I will share what I have experienced.

Long ago I was a wide eyed new-be down in Berkely trying out my new membership at the medical club there.

Not knowing what was the truth about seeds I bought 3 kinds called feminized.

The woman explained they are all female seeds.

I asked if they had any male seeds LOL

She said there was one but it was an hermaphrodite plant.

I confirmed I could make seeds and naively bought those seeds.

So alone in the world of growing, I plant these seeds and get a few plants of each kind and that season under florescent produced a few hundred seeds.

These I found are called F1's They are the F1's of a Hermaphrodite crossed with a feminized.

Also I harvested some seeds from the Hermaphrodite itself these are called S1's for self-ed generation 1 seeds.

What I observed, over a few grows, is that the S1's are female and most always express the hermaphrodite trait but not always.

The F1's are always female and seldom express hermaphrodite trait.

I have only experienced a light seeding under a re-veg stress situation with one F1 strain.

I assume I was lucky in this new-be F1 venture.

These F1's have served me over 5 years now.

I say this from my experiences.

In these F1's I am yet to see a true male plant so yes a Hermie crossed with a female produces female seeds and so does a Hermie self ed. The secondary trait of pollen sacs may or may not be expressed with the F1's

I cannot say anything about further breading such as forcing male flowers on one of the females with chemicals to produce feminized seeds.

I simply do not know what that will do to trait expression in further generations.

The thing here to fear, as it were, is the expression of hermaphrodite trait. Which is considered Male by some. This I question and suggest we consider the primary expression of sex male or female the true sex and the expression of hermaphrodite secondary.

By my understanding of genetics this trait can be expressed or not expressed in the offspring.

It is my opinion that that this reproductive trait is a part of the plants adaption to survive. Also that all genetics have a hermaphrodite some where in their family history.

We must choose the genetics we want and test them under stress to eliminate those genetics that express hermaphroditism in order to select a stable genetic for our garden and avoid seeding a sensi-crop.

Mostly this is done by growers who can grow many dozens or hundreds of plants at once and stress them.

For the indoor grower it may be more a trial and error situation in selectting breeding and clone genetics.

But as far as female seeds ... That is a yes and not a no based on my experiences and a definition of primary sex..

Not one true male plant yet.

I assume there are also different types of hermaphrodite expressions in different genetics. It may be more sneaky in some genetics or under stress situations rather than a timely and predictable plant..

My Hermi genetics flower female then x number of days after that produce pollen sacs with all female pollen.

It's a stable and predictable plant and I have gone in and stripped these pollen sacs to salvage the best bud I can from it.

This smoke is unique. I enjoy it and it is worth the effort to me.

So that is what I can add to our understanding.

Undesirable for most yes but this about myth busting and I have an experience that does that.

Now does a Male to female hermaphrodite produce male only pollen?

I can't say anything on that one.

I think this is her question:

WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO TO GET IT GROW RIGHT?

That is a rather vague question. I guess the answer would be:

Give it water, light, and nutrients....

I don't think any one is going to create a grow guide on this thread.

basically what AB said although obviously ya need to research it all,my advice would be to get a decent growers book although with so many forums and grow guides these days thats not essential but i still buy them.

Do you have hps lights for starters, mylar, what kind of soil, are you using organic nutes, what medium you using, got perlite? These are just to name a few questions that need answered before your grow will turn out good, not forgetting humidity and temps...i could go on,try reading the FAQS and even scour through all the old beginners lounge threads and im sure you'll find an answer for every question,if not just start a new thread with your question but try be a lil more detailed and im sue you'll get all the help you need from us all.Peace

    wow....

Wish I'd gotten on this one before it was ten pages long....read through it all and now don't even know where to start...I liked these two:

The fan leaves....aren't they mostly for stem/stalk growth and not bud?

And blowing smoke on your plants...the only benefit is that ANY smoke on your plants will be fuel for it...cig, charcoal...marijuana...its all going to contribute to the Co2 in the room....just doesn't stick around and probably leaves residue dangerouse to the outside of the plant....

yeah, sounds complicated enough that id mess that up and end up with some terrible concoction that puts me in the hospital...

    Here is my 2 cents....

I belong to another forum of this type and they have an admin that did a thread on urine use for plants. It was very comprehensive and he never uses any other nutes. There is a technique for sure and it is not really a pleasant thing for a closet grow but it works. It comes from hippy communes that used 55 gallon drums of fermenting urine for plant fertilizer. It needs to be fermented and diluted 10-1 before application. never done it myself because i don't mind paying Fox Farm.

And for the 24/18 lighting schedules....

ever heard of Alaskan grows? They grow in near 24 light all summer, with very good results. I think there are a lot of variables that go into deciding which is a better schedule. Out door cant be controlled but if you think about Alaska for example. What would be more beneficial for a plant that needs to finish in a short time, more roots or more green?
