Well, I got the remaining 9 plants out today. So, 14 total out at the moment. 10 Early Pearl and 4 Colombian Gold x Jamaican Lambsbread Let me tell you, bicycle and backpack is way harder then driving in. I had to make three trips today, 2 for the plants and 1 for tools and polymers. Luckily, both of my planting spots are within a mile or so of my house. Here is one of the EP I put out last weekend. All five are doing well, but are getting chewed on a bit by bugs. They also had a large number of small, black beetle like bugs on them. I think I remember those suckers from two years ago. They were all over my purple white widow and chewed holes into and made nests inside the main stem. I sprinkled some chemical powder on them then and the bugs went away. I've still got that stuff, but I want to try this wood vinegar stuff I've got that is all-natural and is supposed to work as a bug repellent when sprayed on. I've got all 10 EP at one place and the 4 CGxJL in another place. The dirt looks so nice in the CGJL spot, almost black, I just had to take a pic. Here's my new cloner. It works sweet. I put in 8 clones of a couple mystery plants in my indoor tent and they all were rooted in 8 or 9 days. I also took some EP and CGxJL clones, male and female. I've got no room in my tents right now, so some will be kept under a couple 65w cfl's and some will be going out. I'm gonna be having some serious fun this year. asssit:
NICE! :bravo: Hank, I love the initiative you're taking to do it even if you gotta make multiple trips on a bicycle. :good job: Very :coool:asssit:
yeah hank, your really working for these girls, looks good though....I hope they make you happy:good job: :jj:
Hey, thanks for checking in everybody. Now that the hard part of planting is done (mostly) going and checking on them isn't too bad. "Just going for a bike ride, dear. Be back in about an hour." He he. Just went and checked on the girls again today. Rainy season has started, so things should go well for a while. A couple of them had some bug issues with leaves getting eaten up, and I've got tons of these black, beetle looking things on the main stems of a few. I went up today to spray them with wood vinegar, which is supposed to work well as a natural pesticide (I should spray that stuff on myself as I get eaten up out there as well, by mosquitoes and especially chiggers.), and I put down some fertilizer pellets around them also. Here's a few pics. This is the same one as in my update last week. Of the first five I put out 2 weeks ago, this one has really taken off, while the other four haven't really seemed to grow much. This guy has grown about 6 inches each of the last two weeks since going out. All the ones in the second batch of 5 EP to go out seem to have settled in better than the first batch. Here are two of them after one week in the field. And, lastly, 3 of the 4 CGxJL that I put out one week ago. They also seem to have settled in nicely. I've also got some clones of a couple of indoor mystery strains that I will throw out in a week or two. Also, got some cuttings of these EP and CGxJL that I will probably throw out even later just to get a little bit extra bud. I'm just having fun with my new cloner. :coolbounce:
Hank, that's one nice grow you got going there. :coool: I'll pulling up a seat to keep up with this one. Question completly off the topic. Your Avatar, Does your avatar have any particular meaning. Just woundering and smoking some LemonBerry:redbong: and the thought poped in my head. Anyway, real nice outdoor grow you got going on.
Thanks for looking in, Mr. GJ. My avatar is a pic of the late poet Charles Bukowski. Hank Chinaski was a semi-autobiographical character in some of his work.
Thanks for checking in everybody. Update time! I wanted to keep posting all my photos in my album so people could see them all together, but I've reached my limit apparently, so I had to go back to my photobucket account. I've got 20 out, atm. First, my 4 Columbian Gold x Jamaican Lambsbread. They are looking pretty good, but after leaving them for two weeks a couple were getting quite overgrown with ferns and a type of vine. Here are 6 small ones I put in two weeks ago. They are clones of two that I'm flowering indoors. I just thought I'd throw a few more out to try and get some extra bud. Time will tell if they mold up or not. That has been my biggest problem outdoors here. Next, I've got 10 Early Pearl. Not sure if I got pics of all of them or not. A couple of them are growing tall and straight, but most are shorter and bushy. Again, I had to trample down a lot of growth around them, so they could get more light, but it's bad for them blending in, on the other hand. This one below looks like it's already started to flower. :bong-2: Thanks for checking in everybody. Can't wait til they start flowering! asssit:
Cheers MG. I had some bad luck last weekend. Went to check on the plants and a bunch were missing. Finally found some pieces. Eaten by hares, I'm guessing. Bummer. Should have put some laundry detergent around them, but since I'm on bike this year, I'm kinda limited in how much stuff I can carry in and out. Out of 10 at grow spot #1, 5 gone and 1 more looks like it won't make it. Some scraps I found. One looking like a goner. Plenty of rain these days. I think the ground is too wet. I was worrying about that when I put them in. There were 4 looking good at grow spot #1 still. Actually, they are divided into two groups at spot #1. The lower half had 4 missing and 1 on it's way out. The upper half had 1 missing and 4 looking good. Here are 3 of the 4 good ones. They are all EP. I had better luck in spot #2. All 10 still kicking. 3 of the 4 CGxJL have shot up to about 6 feet. Big problems with competing vegetation in this plot. Loads of big ass ferns and this one type of vine. The vine, in particular, is a bitch. It sticks to the plants like velcro and you have to very carefully unwind it to keep from damaging your plants. Here's the road going up through the woods. And the little road next to my plot. And the small orchard next door. And some trees in the orchard. This one is chestnut. And persimmon. And my plot. Finally, a couple weed shots. I'm having trouble getting decent shots. I always go in the last 1 or 2 hours before sunset, so as to not meet anyone. With the diffused lighting and an all green background the plants are hard to see. The troublemaking vine. Like velcro. All 6 smaller ones I put out late are still coming up. About 1 1/2 to 2 feet now. These CGxJL are gonna get tall. Very Sativa. Thanks for checking in everybody. asssit:
Nice looking ladies you got there Hank. Sucks to hear about the bunnies eating your ladies though. Hopefully the rest will fair alright and you still get a great harvest. Keep up the good work :goodjob:
Thanks y'all. New update. The one that looked like it was about to die two weeks ago did indeed die. No hare chew marks. I think the ground was too wet. Everything else is still going good, though. No new losses, and if everything makes it through the two weeks I'll be back in the states and unable to water them they will all come to harvest. Weather forecasts look dry, though. I'm worrying a bit. I'll water heavily before I leave, and mulch. First, my 'upper' spot. Think this area might be good for next year. A small stream runs all the way along these old rice paddies about 3 or 4 meters from my plants. These 4 are definitely safe from drying out. Number 1 of 4 EP. This guy was chewed on as well. There was this kind of foamy skin around the stem at the base and I thought it was some bug problem. I pulled it off and saw it was chewed all the way around the stem. More than half the stem was lost, but the plant is still doing well. I wrapped it up with electrical tape. The same plant. 3 more EP Now for my "lower" spot. Everything still going good, but a few were just starting to show some wilting after 9 days with no rain. These are way above the water table and are a cause for worry. With no rain I would water them once a week, but I'll be gone for two weeks. :eusa_eh: Of the 4 CGJL, 3 have really shot up. 6-7 feet each. 1 is still short, like 4 feet. The 6 newer ones are all still alive, some showing a bit of vigor, some not. The 3 tall ones. A few shorter ones in there. Had to throw a splint on a branch. Some bug drilled a hole into it. I'm seeing bugs that like to drill into the stem and live inside the hollow part. Bastards. Not sure which one this is. It's all shiny from being sprayed down. Last two times I've been to check on my outdoor plants, I sprayed them all down with a pyrethrum based pesticide and a wood vinegar/chili pepper spray. The chili pepper is supposed to repel critters and the wood vinegar part is supposed to inhibit mold and make the leaves more resistant to bugs. I'm especially hitting that wood vin/pepper spray down at the base of the plants to discourage the hares and suppress any mold down there due to undergrowth causing limited air flow. Thanks for checking my updates everybody. Feel free to take a peek at my indoor grow as well. opcorn-2: http://forum.growkind.com/showthread.php?t=44880
Looks good. It's pretty :coool: what you're doing over there all guerrilla grow in the countryside. Must be exciting. asssit:
Thanks SW and Ras. Yes, it is exciting. I'm always half expecting to hear some coppers crashing through the bush to get me. Snakes are always a minor worry, as well. I had some late leftover clones of both types, m and f, that I threw out last night together to see if I could make some seeds. Middle of the night, bag of plants, on my bike on the street, then hiking up a clear-cut hillside. "Hope there's no cops about. Hope there's no snakes in here." asssit:
I'd be looking into a used Serow bike. I've heard they're popular around Asia, and much easier to get about that abicycle
