Cheers, Bud. You betcha I will.

@SW, I can't drive for a year, motorcycles included, which is why I'm on my mountain bike.

    Cool shot! :thumbs-up:

Could you trim off the first few branches at the bottom and then wrap the main stem up a bit with some tree wrap? That would keep bugs and rabbits from gnawing on it.

    Thanks, Joe.

Last year I spread laundry detergent all around the plants to keep the critters away. This year, didn't do anything and am taking a little bit of a hit. Live and learn. Probably can't get that exact product, but I've seen trees wrapped here, so there is something similar.

Time for a little update. Four Early Pearl still hanging in there, beginning to fill out, but I had to cut some moldy parts out. They've still got 5 or 6 weeks to go, so hopefully they will be allright. I need to go back up there this weekend and spray them with my wood vinegar/chili pepper spray which is supposed to be good for preventing mold.

The plant that got chewed before and had been taped up got chewed again right above the tape. :BangHead: Chewed halfway through the stem and had fallen over. My bad for not wrapping it higher up and I should have staked them all up. But, it was still doing ok and the lying on the ground time didn't seem to have hurt it too much.

I hope the mold doesn't ravage these four. They are all about 4 feet tall with three or four 1-1 1/2 foot colas coming in. It was good smoke last year and I hope they hang in there.

At the lower spot everything was ok. I had a friend water them a few times while I was back home for two weeks. The top broke off one of the tall CGxJLs, and one of the short ones got crushed by vegetation because my buddy didn't clear anything away. He just watered. Still, no signs of dehydration, so I'm happy. 2 CGxJLs at about 7 feet with lots of nice branches, 1 broken top, 1 shorter one, and 5 latecomer plants I threw out that I don't know what they are.

None of these have started to flower yet.

    A couple of silhouette shots.

Group shot - a tall one, broken top, and a few of the late ones

The short CGxJL still looks healthy. It's just not getting tall.

    Thanks for looking in.

Thanks guys. Atm, I'm expecting a so-so yield only. I have a feeling that mold is going to keep coming. :sad11:

One of these years I'm going to have an outdoor grow where everything goes perfect.

The sativa looking ones, do you think they will finish in time before the cold weather comes?

I ran some Neville's Haze two years ago that I let go until early Dec. They worked out pretty well.

Latitude wise, I think I'm just about at the northern most limit to be able to run a pure sativa.

    Great Job, Hank!

    The plants are looking great.

    Japan seems great for soil.

    Great spot by the stream.

The pellet technique is very cool, never seen those before.

And those colas on the plants are gonna be huge, from the way the lookin now.

All my short ones got hit with mold. It's these damn little caterpillars. They bore a hole into the stem and make a nest inside. Their webs or shit or whatever starts mold growing in the buds, and once it gets started it runs pretty fast.

The tall sativas are all right and it's just a matter of timing I think. The caterpillars have run their course before the sativas get into heavy flowering mode.

Got to find out what those fuckers are and apply plenty of poison next year.

Got a few pics and will do a pic update in a couple hours.

Sorry to hear about the caterpillars hank. They got one of my blue chocolates pretty good too. They usually come from the cabbage looper moth, BT is organic and will kill them. This is what mine looked like.

Got-em in my brussel sprouts this year. Diatomaceous earth knocked em on their ass.

I didn't get a pic of my caterpillars, though I should have. I should have put a couple in a jar to identify them.

They were only about 1cm long and white. They bore a hole into the stem and make a nest inside.

Next year, I will probably use some serious poison or go with 100% sat strains. There seems to be a crucial window where if they start flowering just a couple weeks later the plants are left alone.

The Early Pearls got wiped out early. Some mystery seeds I planted out that were a little later flowering got hit a little, but not as bad. The 100% sativa Colombian Gold x Jamaican Lambsbread had no bug damage.

A few pics of the shorties that were hit by the mold a little, but not wiped out. Haha, there is a caterpillar in that first pic that I didn't even notice before. Not the same type as the ones that are killing me though.

Originally, I had 4 of the tall CGxJLs. They all basically looked like this.

    But, one broke in half.

    One just broke.

So, now there are two and a half of them.

Definitely not the grow of the year. I was hoping for 2 pounds and will end up with a total of about 7 or 8 ozs only.

Ahh, live and learn, maybe next year will be my break out year.

    Lessons learned here.

    1. Definitely top the sativas. (Thought I had, but maybe not.) Trees are cool, but they break easily. Next year they will all be bushes.

    2. Stake them up before they need to be staked up.

    3. Use only 100% sativas or find an effective pest control method.

I found what was supposed to be DE on a site here and bought it, but DE is supposed to be white. This stuff was brown. Maybe it's DE mixed in with potting soil? I don't know. I didn't use it. I was spraying them with a pyrethrum based spray, but that stuff is gonna wash off I guess. I was only visiting them about every two weeks, because I've been busy with work on the weekends as well.
