LOL! You guys are great. I was just sitting here talkin' with the G-friend about starting my own business doing this. Now I log on and see all your replies. Now I know great minds think alike. GT you hit it on the head. I am so not wanting to do the sparky thing anylonger. Not that I don't like the pay, but it is killing me slowly. My mental attitude suffers as well. I have always wanted to work for myself doing my woodwork, but never found an opening that had potential. I think this just may have that potential. Thanks for the support all of you. I may just take the step and start a business. Wish me luck....

    P.S. DnC.....already started on one yesterday... ;)

I know what you mean.I like my job but there's always that thought in the back of my head.....what if?Being a machinist i'm good with wood too but don't have a shop anymore since we moved.Remember that pipe i made ? A co- worker and i planned on making them out of teakwood, and rosewood with ebony inserts.I bought the wood and started looking into some equipment.....then he backed out $$$$.

It's best to make them on a mill because of the precision they take.It gets tough going to work an hour early....3am to make them when no one's around and then cleaning up the wood chips.Maybe i'll invest in one one day. BTW do you know of any places out there that has exotic wood at a decent price that also ship?

I hear ya GT. Now that I am used to my present lifestyle it is going to be hard for me to give all my effort to this. I think I will have to do it on the side until I get lucky and things take off. I have bills that won't wait if you know what I mean. I don't know of anyone selling exotic wood...sorry. I use cedar for now as it is easy to work with and I love the smell. It is not aromatic cedar, but still smells great! In time I want to go to hardwoods, but I am strapped for cash at the moment. I use fence boards believe it or not. Cheap as hell and I just surface plane them to the desired thickness.

Well here it is guys. It is not glued up yet, but soon this will be a functional keif box. I have to go get some mirror tiles and a glass cutter to finish out the catcher.

DnC...if you want this one then I will have to kill you as it has my prints on it and I can't let those out... ;) The next one I will be sure to wear rubber gloves so I can send it your way....hehehehehe.... No really....let me get a few made first. Everytime I start a new project I like to tune them in so to speak. This is a prototype that I will use to improve upon. I have a few more ideas I want to add if they are going to be feasable. Don't worry bud....I'll get one to ya real soon... ;)

Mary this box is designed to allow the trichomes to fall thru a fine screen and collect on a catcher. A great way to store bud and not waste those valuable crystals that can be made into hash.

Agrow...no problem bud. Anyone else wants one send me a PM and I'll start a list. I can't guarantee it will be quick, but they are going to be worth the wait. I am stoked that you all have such great interest in my work. I do take pride in everything I do, and I build old-world style. I use only dowels and joinery to build with. Funny thing is that I am faced with a choice here. I know that sometimes one has to step away from the secure life they grow accustomed to in order to follow their dream. That is where I stand right now. It really sucks because the job I have been awaiting for some time now needs to be decided upon tomorrow, and on my B-day no less. I would much rather follow my dream, but man is it hard to let go. I would appreciate hearing if any of you have a story to tell relating to this delima. Life is such a bitch sometimes. Anyway do you think I should go for it or not? Maybe work into it slowly? Keep in mind that I am out of money come December 1 with bills to make. Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Herb, you definately got skills. Have you ever tried french polishing?

Those boxes would come up swell done in a good mahogany or teak stain with a beaut 'glassed off' clear over. Another good way to move gain extr $. Every now and then I do the rounds: 2nd hand, garage sales, markets and dump, to look for nicely shaped furniture, cupboards etc. I fix any damage, replace hinges etc, stain and polish up then take em to auctions or back to the markets.

Takes some time but persistance is the key to success.

LOL@Agrow... ;) Jay I am going to put a clear coat on them for sure. Never done a french polish, but it sounds like fun. ;) I will work into different woods and finishes as things progress. I would like to get into the woodburning as well, but I have to walk before I run. Just as anything else it will grow with time. I think I have a plan worked out, but I will have to go back to my day job for a while and do these on the side for now. If everything goes well I will be going full on with the boxes in 3-6 months. That is at the latest, but I have to get my ducks lined up or else. I promise to keep going on the boxes when I can for now. Give me time and I will give you a bitchin' box.... ;)

Herb imo i wouldn't jump in head first especially with bills waiting.Just do what u can on the side and it will grow from there.Btw we have a woodworking shop where i work making high priced molding.Being in admin i can take as many "hardwood" scraps as i want.I haven't gotten over there yet to check the quality of wood but if it's like the end product it's good stuff.Keep in mind i wouldn't sell it to you but maybe in the future we could make a small trade.PM me with any Q's.

Also My Uncle owns a framing (for houses)buisness. He install windows . Getting glass for at wholesale prices is no prob. Hell his scraps alone will do the job and I can get those for practically nothing. I can hook ya up that way to . Were only a couple hrs away from each other . I could meet cha someplace or you could come to my pad to pick it up ;) .

Let me know ......I told you I would help in way ....I meant it ;) ........l8r
