this is actually the first thread ive read in the politics forum. i dont usually debate politics or religion with anyone because i have found so few people who can do it without taking it personally and getting upset. there are usually truths to be found in both sides of any discussion. in my opinion (specially with religion) it is rare that you will be able to convince the other person to see things your way, all that can be done is to explain why you see things the way you do and LISTEN to why they see things they way they do. most people who like to debate are so busy planning their rebuttle that they never bother to truly listen to the other person and attempt to see things from their position. if after doing that you still do not agree and cannot find any points you are willing to soften on then the discussion is done. the rest is just bickering and hence why i dont participate. another thing that i seem to find in these debates is that as soon as the personal insults come out, it's because the person has nothing intelligent left to say. im not fingering anyone here, i am sure everyone in this politics forum has been guilty of it, im just trying to point out the futility of it all. it just makes you angry and upset. so if you need to get angry, go for it, and when you are done do me a favor and use that anger to change some of our marijuana laws.
@Webby!!! True, ture!!! Sometimes the big boys get rough!!! This is pretty tame from what I've heard in other discussions I've seen!!! The truth is brutal sometimes and I can't watch someone rant without say my bit!!! Could be a character flaw on my part, but I really have refrained from the vulgarities in the recent past!!!
