In case anyody is wondering....

Well things seem to be settling down. I don't know what went on and maybe I don't have a say in the runnings of GK but in the wake of all this and trying to piece together what was happening.... is MG gone for good or just temporary? If I could vote, I'd say just temp. If he thought he was saving GK from itself, all should be good. If he was being a dick, which it doesn't seem he was although his method leaves a lot to be desired, that would be a different story. That's my copper pieces and worth every cent.

 

I wasn't bashing anyone.??? I think MG should be here. He has been a MAJOR contributer here for awhile. A little slap on his peepee and everything should be good. Pass things around and think of the good. asssit: :redbong:

I'll clarify this as much as i can then ask we all avoid the issue for time being ...


Iv spoke to MG late last night and hes explained his actions. I dont want to say to much publicly because this is a conversation i need to have with Webby. The reasons and frustrations behind MG's actions will need to be explained and i feel that i can do that in a way that whle not justifying MGs choice,it will maybe prove a pivotal moment for GK,for good or bad.I cant agree with the method but i understand the mentality behind his logic of "to make omelettes you need to break eggs". But only thing i would say to that is you cant go into someones house as a guest and start breaking their eggs to make omelettes when they might not want omelettes. MG knows i strongly disagreed with how he played this one but he also knows theres no ill will. He did what he did as a parting "gift" almost. He chose to fall on his sword as he put it and hopefully something "good" could come from it was his position. Hes got his own website and social media branding he wants to focus on and i think he saw this as a way to bow out while maybe causing a chain reaction that could be good for Growkind. Again folks,MG has fully explained why he did what he did and i get where hes coming from.I dont agree with what he did or the logic behind it but i do empathise with his frustration because its the exact same frustration that Herbsparky, Avergae Joe, Snick, MrGJ,Resin,Lion and myself have all found ourselves feeling at various times. Its hard to achieve what you desire to achieve or a site when you have certain restrictions on you. But it is what it is and we wrk with what we have got,we cant just close other peoples websites down regardles of good intentions:2c:


But its worth pointing out that had we not been able to contact Webby so quickly then this place coulda been down for days and days MINIMUM. It was only via the fact the good people at Vapor Warehouse got in touch with webby that this was averted. Webby is on the road at present. We might all want to enhance and run this place better without restrictions but we have to bear in mind Webby is the landlord whether hes absent or not. That means we play by his rules whether we concurr or not so in summary closing down Growkind was the wrong thing to do. It was a bad call in my opinion and this could have caused webby to just be like "fuck it,one less set of bills for me to pay,call it a day and close it". So this coulda went REAL bad and that cant be overlooked,the fact we are all online again makes it seem somehow less tragic but i can assure you guys it coulda went either way and it doesnt exactly inspire confidence in me as Webbys Admin. I made the call to bring MG on as my number 2 Admin and in that regard its made me look like i have bad judgement in m choice of who i trust with the keys.


I wish MG well with his endeavors. Hes still available to me to contact via my Apprentice FB page and i will keep him up to date with any "good" that may or may not arise from such drastic actions. If anyone got a right to be pissed at MG its me but iv no ill will towards him.Hes helped me out in the engine room a SHITLOAD of times and iv learned a lot about the AdminP functions purely from MG. I didnt ban him,webby did and therein lies the answer folks. The username known as Midnight Garden wont be allowed back on the site purely based on the fact its Webbys call. I agree with nippie though ,lets move forward and last thing i want is this thread to turn into a discussion about the merits of what he done. He did what he did,hes explained to me why he did what he did,iv relayed to him i dont agree but i understand the source of his frustration. I KNOW there was nothing personal in what he did as hes assured me that much. Only reason im being so vocal in this post is so we can put the matter to bed but also so put the members in the picture a little cos it not every day the site goes down and of course theres gonna be questions. I feel iv pretty much answered the who,what and why and lets just move forward as a community with the same goal.


As i said,he was banned by Webby for closing down webbys site which he pays the bills for. Let me be lear on one thing though . MG did what he did out of a concern and frustration for Growkind and its future. It wasnt malicious but it was misguided,entirely. And imho it was wrong due to the fact we are here to SERVE growkind and its members and to close the site was a dis-service to them.. It has put me in an awkward position as Admin but thats all im gonna say. I cant go into MG's reasons but he has explained them in full to me but i'll save that conversation for when i catch up with Webby and when i explain why MG did what he did. :bongin:

WE ALL WANT GROWKIND TO BE SO MUCH MORE BUT WE HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE HOUSE RULES AND ANARCHY ISNT THE WAY TO HAVE ORDER. Yeah but ya know MG started his own thing cause he wasn't satisfied with GK, and kudos to him for that. I am satisfied with GK and always have been. That's why I came here in the first place.


I think MG's sense of dissatisfaction might have been a a bit contagious? I dunno, but I am happy here and always have been. There's nothing even close to GK out there.

 

Yeah i'll say one thing and its basically reiterating what Res said. When the site went down i realised if need be we could buy a new domain and set up again if need be....but it just wouldnt be the same without all that plethera of back knowledge. THATS what we can never lose,ever. GK has substance in a world of meaningless sounbytes. I agree with FF....apathy can be contagious. Its like yawning,when one starts everyone starts:jj:


MG was a hell of a contributor,cant take that away from him. A solid Admin for the most part too. Me and MG often diagreed on many things but that why i asked him to be my #2 cos every ying needs a yang:bongin:
