CREATIVE GARDENER Cured Fat Sticky Bud

When I first started with the quality seeds, which weren't femmed, I grew each till alternating nodes then took the bottom branches of each for clones. I was in a big hurry to get them in flower. If they weren't showing sex by then they were in a couple days of flower.

I trashed the males and their clones and kept the best looking plants for mothers and went clone crazy. Soon I had more vegging plants than I had room to flower and was over run with them.

That's the great thing about clones, they're alternating from the start and can be flowered as soon as they're well rooted and there's space in the flower room.

Get ready for a good show, I am going to take my time this round and bush out the plants and should get some nice buds out of them.

My last run was some Bubblicous clones and did not have to train or take time. they grew so fat they wanted to lay down. It was like raising hogs.

Thats when I fell in love with DWC, Made me want to throw dirt clods at anyone saying DWC is difficult.

They do look nice. I do have to say, using the GH 3 formula, and using the weekly res change deal, you really get good looking plants! :thumbs-up:

Ok, I was wondering, I did top them and I don't have alt nodes on the top of the plant yet, but am getting alt nodes on the lower side branches, SOOOO, is this considered to be a mature veg plant even thou the top does not have alt nodes yet? If so, I plan to clone the side branches when they stretch out more, but didn't want to do it to eairly again.

Your alternating nodes will be growing from the bottom. Your tops are already grown.

When I grow from seed, and I see even one alternating node on a plant anywhere, I consider it ready to flip. I don't know if that's technically correct or not, but it's my way of interpreting "When you see alternating nodes the plant is mature and ready to flower."

I'd say flower at will, whenever you feel like they are the size you want.

Also I have heard that lower branches clone easier. Not seen a difff myself.

Basicaly just because it's newer. fresher growth compared to "woody" older growth.

Plus if your ready for flower, who wants to cut off your higher bud sites?

Is is a normal practice to top lower branches or just the top sights? Really only topping experience I got is with clones.

veg updateI just put them in the 400w mH box. I did notice that one one branch has a alt node, all the rest are even steven double side by side branches, figured that when I seen the alt node the other day, I should have looked more closely at the rest of the plant. so I will give it a extra week and see what happens. I will also top them again. So, is it the norm to top the side branches on the lower parts of the plant?Remember these are from Seed....

Good question JCIO. I dunno cuz I usually only top once when they are clones too. I am calling it "topping" when I cut off a stalk at a node to level the canopy, but that's different than what I do to top them when they are clones.

The main purpose of topping is to cause the plant to release a hormone that causes it to focus growth energy on side branches. I think I "top" in flower more to shape the plant than to get it to grow more branches. That being said, if you want to top a side branch, do it.

Switching to flower and taking clonesOk, she's getting bushy, so I am going to take some clones and change to a bigger res and start flower under 600w hps.

Lookin good. What's with the blunted leaves?

You are using the GH 3 part I think - which schedule you using?

Grown in Tx. Locked and Loaded

Unless I'm removing the undergrowth, I "top" the side branches(leaving a node or two) when taking clones to produce more budding sites and end up with a little bushier plant.

After some new growth starts I put them into flower and don't mess with trimming anymore unless, i see some scraggly shit at the bottom.

  18. Justcheckingitout

    Justcheckingitout GK Old Timer

If you mean the leave that looked cut on the ends, when I topped some spots I did the "oh shit I missed" cuts where I cut the new growth on top in half.

Yes I am using the useless g3 formula.

My first week I had to hand water, so after the first week when roots reached the water I started week 1 of the formula.
