Cal-Mag? Thanks guys. teamster6 - thanks man, you may be right but I'm gonna address it and see what happens. I had to move them farther from the light last night. They were within 3" of the glass. HC - I know I keep posting stem shots but I've never had stems this thick before. I'm supper-cropping the branches but I really didn't to anything to the main stalks because I couldn't get my fingers between the nodes. I agree with you on the root-bound comment. It's like the top growth is really slow compared to what I'm used to seeing, but the bottom growth was accelerated. I'm not speaking scientifically at this point but it's like, if this was an Ice plant with stems and root development like this, it'd be 4ft tall. (well, 3 anyway) Useless - I've got Cal-Mag, any reason not to just add it to the the feeding schedule? The next feeding is going to be a transitional dose including all the Roots Organics products. The first inclusion of the flower nutes...it's been all veg-nutes to date. According to the R.O. Feeding Schedule, they get a little bit of all of the products (grow and bloom) for the next 3 wks. then on to higher doses of "Bloom" with no "Grow". Any way, I've got a bottle of Botanicare's Cal-Mag, that I bought when I thought I needed it in the past. Unless I hear opposing advice I'll just add the lightest dose listed, I think it's 5ml per gal and see what happens. I am going to look for specific info on the Mg in the R.O. flower nutes that I'm about to start using, it seems like there's a chance I'll over do it. Time for some research. Thanks. Did you mean foliar? Mr.A - You mean that brown cotton string? My lady had these pants a few years back that had those strings hanging from them, it was "in" for a min, there were like 6 of them hanging down...she tripped on them once when they came untied and got rid of the pants...I cut off the strings on the way to good-will. They've worked out well for training. ...or did you mean Blackstrap Molasses which contains Mg? Thanks guys. I'll keep em comming. Grat
Yea, Cal mag will be fine. 5-10 ml per gal. I dont know if you're using RO water or not, usually just use epsom salt if using tap water, because the tap already has Ca in it. But, you look like you're getting a little light green on the new growth, and Cal Mag also has some N, so it isnt going to hurt at all. I meant direct feed, not foliar.
I'm using rainwater. That's been my practice all along. I had some red stems a while back that made me think I might need some Cal-Mag but I used it a few times and didn't see a difference. Then I read that if you don't use Reverse Osmosis water then you probably wouldn't need Cal-Mag. After inspecting the lables on the bottles I see that the Buddha Grow and Bloom have Ca. But none of the products in the Root Organics line specifically list Mg. Makes me wonder if I use CalMag+ will Ca toxicity be a concern? Seems like I'm might just be paranoid. I'll go with 5 ml to start, they'll still be getting some grow along with the bloom this next feeding, so the N will be present. Thanks again. Grat
12-04-09 11 days of Flower Had to adjust the height in my setup to accommodate what has been as surprising stretch given what I'd seen prior. Plant A Plant B Plant C They did get 5ml of CalMag+ per gal. No signs of new rust spots. Grat
Are those 3 gallon pots? Damn nice trunks you got going I need to try some training next run, so far ive been very impressed with GK members training and their colas puts my sog single colas to shame,:icon_scratch: nice growing man.
Thanks guys! Choker - :icon_salut: Thanks man, I try my best to keep them all the same height but between the B and C plants there's almost 5" dif...oh well, close enough for now. I just put a box under the C plant so it's even. SG420 - The Chiquita's are sprouting now. I had a mis-fire on the first run. I was sold old seed stock and they didn't germ. So the side-by-side this was supposed to be...didn't quite work out. These are a new batch of seeds. They should be ready to flower along side of some El Nino clones when these 3 come down. That's the plan, you should start seeing seedling pics any day now. 4F2C0J - Yep, 3 gal. They were put in those pots on 11/1 from 4"cubes. 7 days later the roots were poking out the bottom. The lights were switched on 11/25. They vegged under a 400w MH. These are different results and practices than is usual for me. IDK if you've seen any of my other grows but I've never had stems like this. I usually go from a 1gal to a 3gal, veg for a week under the 400, then switch the lights. My veg chamber has a 65w CFL with reflector. I also used more OregonismXL than ever before. I've always used it when transplanting (sprinkling all over the lightly scuffed root-ball) but this time I've done a couple of "root drenches". Thanks for the compliments on the training, it's really easy, I also heavily employ the pinching/twisting/cracking techniques to control height and "beef them up" a bit. Might extend the veg a little but that's usually not a problem for me because I'm always waiting for the flower chamber to open up. I'm most likely going to be growing out the La Nina's in a SOG style to see more plants for selection purposes and to see the natural growth patterns. Grat
JINKIES TIMES TEN GRAT!!! :fly: :fly: :fly: those plants are absolutely perfect looking! GORGEOUS! I'd be happy if mine look HALF AS GOOD as yours! Awesome job my friend! Continued Success, -LM
Thanks for the great info Grat, you got a green thumb that's for sure. So what is this OregonismXL stuff to make your soil more alive, and roots happier? I am using Root-66 for my clones from the recipe for success with good results and happy bright white roots, need to get some more or something similar. You know how to train thats for sure, I have only grown SOG never applied training to any indoor plants, outdoor I have Thai X SS all tortured up with some twisting/snapping/etc. Killer growshow im in on this one!!! Lata, 4F2C0J
Comments before the update. LM - :hello: Thanks! All I can say is...Root's Organics line + Sonic Bloom + 400w HID = these pics:thumbsup: oh wait, then there's temps and air-flow and genetics and...:icon_scratch: Yeah, they do look pretty good huh? I'm sure you'll get dialed in and be showing off soon too. 4F2C0J - Oregonism XL page is linked in my sig. They do a better job of explaining but it's mycorrhiza spores and bacteria. Check out the link, it's great stuff. Seems to be different from your Root 66, I'd not known of it before. I'm also not familiar with "the recipe for success", can you fill me in or point me in the right direction? Thanks for the Kind words:thumbsup: Bud - :toothy9: Where's Chris? Hey Chris, Bud said my stems were unreal! :laughing1: I doubt the cola's will rival a Smirnoff bottle but we'll seeassit: Res - were @ 18 days and I'm So ready to be ASTOUNDED! I'd prefer of course to be astounded by the High...but I'd take astounded with the yield anyday:thumbsup: Thus far, it's the stretch that I hadn't counted on...I know that seems silly but I really could/should have flipped the lights a week earlier...for the sake of efficiency. Now to do the update... ...in a min... Grat
Pics 12-10-9 17 days of Flower. Hey gang, I noticing as time passes the increasing differences in the plants. Maybe I'll get some variety after all? A Plant For those paying close attention, the darker line that appears across this plant is the shadow of the camera wrist string. B Plant - The is for Behemoth! C Plant Group - As if I needed to say that. La Niña pics coming soon, probably tomorrow. Grat
That's funny how they all looked the same in the begining now they are starting to dotheir own thing plant A looks like it streched a little more ,B just got huge, C nice & compact nice work Grat-Bud Merry Christmas
HHHG - Thanks Man, seems you posted between my updates last night, Shrubby "Sativas" :laughing1: Thanks again! Yeah Bud, glad that's coming through in the pics. So it seems that even these Feminized seeds aren't rock-solid stable. Selection is still Key. I'm particularly curious about the variation in the High. Seems I had about 90% success in cloning these ladies. I always cut too many JIC and usually end up giving some away, then they show up as little thank you jars later on It's fun to see your plants done by another grower. Anyway, I've got 3 of each in dirt now and a 5 extras that rooted but it'd just be overkill. Some of these will probably run with the La Niña seedlings next flowering round.
La Niña! Drum roll please!:band5: Ladies and Gentlemen the moment we've all been waiting for... La Niña! Taken 12/11/09 Day of first transplant. Taken 12/16/09 I'm going with #s this time Meet #5 #6 #7 #9 Well Kids, there they are! I'm already optimistic with the sharper leaves that the Haze will shine through. This Haze mother (Haze B) was not used in any of the other crosses Shanti has bread. I don't know what that means but it sounds exciting:laughing1: Grat
And the boys. Pics 12/16/09 23 days 12/12 Plant A has pulled ahead in my "favorite plant" race. The trichome coverage is something like 4x that of the other 2. I think these are 2 of my better bud shots. B Plant - Do you think she want's N? C Plant
Picture of health Grat. You sure can grow a hell-of-a garden. This is turning out to be a great test! Great pics too! cheers,
