Don't see why Cali would be off the table. Same laws as Colorado. That was my point earlier.

But I'm just sponsoring the damn thing. You guys sort out the details, I'll provide the goodies. ;)

I don't think it takes California off the table either. I think we should explore all possibilities. :) :ebert:

I wouldn't mind a trip to California next year, if thats the place we all decide on. Hell, Useless, you have just as much say in this as any of us except ResinRubber who is ultimately the owner/founder and majority shareholder.

Time to start making a list of reasons to do each location. I need to decide on a location to promote here in Colorado.

Definitely not against California at all. :)

Ain't no dicktatership around here. A vote is a vote. Cali's not off the table with me. Just not the absolute shoe in it would have been if Prop 19 passed.

So we have Cali and Colorado as top contenders. Do I hear a call for a vote? Or do we need more discussion? (Use, that means the resident anarchist will need to check a box..sorry dude)

In my mind I see picking Cali as setting the trend to alternating sites and allowing the members on the west coast a chance to strut their stuff.

Colo offers the chance to up our game from last year and coincide schedules with an area event (Alma or Telluride) that could add some spice.

I'd like some time to prepare a list of "pros" and "cons", for Colorado.

We want to have a decision by the New Year (Jan. 1) to ensure plenty of planning time, right?

Maybe we could put up the poll the week of Xmas and then have a decision by New Years?!?!?!

I want to do some calling around and checking details of certain things.

Is this timeline within reason for everyone?

Maybe a booth at the Alma THC Festival? See, I need time to come up with a GREAT place . . .

Well Rez asked the question about calling for a vote. If everyone wants to wait and select the location by what options are available thats fine by me.

I thought we were only trying to pin down a location and the options at that location could be well planned in advance or voted on.

    Cheers

    Discuss it is.

I'll try to narrow down the campground option in Cali with better info and look for some Aug/Sept Festival events that we could time it with. Use, you have any more info on those cabins?

Check the cabin info page and photo albums to get an idea of what it's like.

Looks like the cabins are closer to each other than I remember, but I swear they aren't very close to each other.

If that camp doesn't work out, there are tons of places all along the Eastern Sierra to check out. I just know that one has good fishing, and I smoked over 22 grams of weed in 2 days, without any problems. The hike up to Blue Lake is worth it for the German Browns.

But, like I said, there are a ton of campgrounds all around there, lot's of lakes and streams, good hiking, natural and man made hot springs and tubs (awesome to take 6 pack and couple fat joints and plop into 105 degree water when it's 40 degrees out!). I don't know the campgrounds well, but I know the area very well, since Mammoth and June mountains are right there.

If we go here, I'll take you folks to my "not really secret but I like to think so" hot tub, called the crab cooker. ;) Res, I can show you some great back country rides accessible from the Mammoth lifts.

Other pluses for the Eastern Sierra are a municipal airport at Mammoth with car rentals, Reno is only about an hour away with an international airport, plenty of towns all about 30 mins apart from each other for supplies Including Bishop, Lone Pine, Big Pine, Mammoth and June to the South, Lee Vining just North. There are lots of OHV areas and trails if anyone wants to bring some motorized toys. Campgrounds are typically more accessible than the one we were at. Easier to get to on groomed dirt roads.

Anyway just a few thoughts while I have my java.

West Virginia is another great state with great camping/skiing, and has similar laws as Virginia, basically possession of any amount is a misdemeanor. It would also be more "in the middle" than Virginia for some folks.

Yea, I did the All Good Festival there a couple years back. ;)

Beautiful area, just :hot: and humid as fuck!

    West Virginia,

    Any amount misdemeanor 90 days - 6 months $1,000

Conviction of possession of less than 15 grams triggers an automatic conditional discharge.

    not fer me thanks.

Didn't think that was far off from a misdemeanor and 30 days in Virginia........But, it was just a suggestion.

Yea, the East Coast is gonna be tough to get a place as friendly as those more west.

I'd say if an Event is planned for the East Coast, it'll have to be a scaled down, compliant version.

I think an East Coast Rep could find something tolerable.

Is everyone ok with the timeline? Mid December to start a poll and have the final decision by Jan. 1 2011?

I just want us to have enough time to explore all the possibilities and not be rushed.

    We'll have PLENTY of time to do the actual planning . . . 6-7+ months . . .

OK, I'm knocking back some fresh Trainwreck and am pretty lit up :jj:

Been thinking. I'd like to back up just a bit and discuss what the original intent of this annual gathering was. We have two different things here. The NAGC, which to me seems more along the lines of a convention, or at least some type of urban gathering that is intended to get bigger and bigger each year eventually rivaling some of the more popular cannabis competitions.

Then we have the GK meet-n-greet, which was intended to be a camping trip for like minded (mostly GK) growers to get together and hang out in the woods for a few days and show off our wares.

What do we want this to be, or become? Is it a GK event, or does this become a fully sponsored cup eventually open to the entire cannabis community?

That's going to play a huge factor on where we go.

If it's camping, (which I am in favor of) then we can certainly take some steps to ensure that future events have a few more creature comforts without going so far as to move towards fully equipped and managed campgrounds.

If it''s the North American Growers Cup, and we are trying to figure how to create an event that rivals the Amsterdam Cannabis cup, then we have a LOT of f'in work to do.

I'd love to have the event close to a music festival, but it should be before or after the event and not at the same time. Who's gonna hang out at a camp site if BB King is playing just down the road. Maybe you do 2 or 3 days camping prior to the day the festival starts. Those that have to go home, go. Those that that can stay, stay. If it were at the same time, we'd never see each other.

Hope all that made sense :jj:

I'm more inclined to the camping as opposed to the organized campground/cabin thing. Not that I wouldn't love to do that, but I' don't really wanna discuss my full abilities/intentions within ANY earshot of non-attendees. Thats a huge requirement for me to have it be a Cannabis Cup of sorts.

I TOTALLY want to have the judging and having people show off their finest buds. So, I guess I'm totally for it being a NAGC event, but at the same time I'm all for it being a camping event with "upgrades" if desired.

I want to be able to not worry about my :animbong: laying out in the common area of our campsite. I want to be able to have my dogs. Frank and Alittle need to be able to get out and enjoy life too.

None of this is set in stone for me, but these are some things I do feel strongly about.

That said, I know a nice clean Port-A-Let isn't very expensive, and we already have nearly all the other creature comforts EASILY adaptable to a campsite.

I like camping and would prefer to have a camping trip/gathering/Meet-n-Greet, whether it be in California or Colorado or Maine . . . P.S. I like Maine, my family is from there.:bigok:
