Rky and Joe make good points.

Joe- At this point I don't see them as being exclusive. NAGC is a dream that will grow and evolve out of the Meet-n-Greet gatherings if it is meant to be. With further evolution of cannabis laws and improvement of our skills organizing I'm hoping we can open it up in future years. Maybe a meet with a viral cup event in a nearby location. Keep our GK meet location private but open the cup to a few other MJ boards that may want to throw down.

For example: We GKers camped up on Weston Pass with an NAGC challenge in Alma near the THC fest. But that's something that needs to evolve organically. Lets get the meet off the ground first. Walk before we run yanno.

Rky- I see the logic in your stance. In a privately owned setting we will always be subject to the whim or fears of the owner. There are quite a few fed/state group camps in the Sierras and Colo that have basic improvements (toilets, firepits and tables) and can be reserved for use by a single group. Perhaps that's a more rational alternative. For showers, solar showers with a simple curtain are cheap and take minutes to set up.

its gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper to do the camp out thing especially for those that travel far and already have the gas expense under their belt.

Off topic but the next cup it would be nice to span THE FUCKING BOWLS OUT A LITTLE. yA knOW SO YOU DONT FUCKING GET LOST WALKING TO YOUR CAMPER

hahaha...T6! Was thinking about that the other day when I was looking at this web site. Sorry for getting off track... But here's an idea. We could take each entry put it in a numbered tin/jar and set them on a table with an assigned pipe for each strain. Throughout the day each person judging could inspect the buds and try a toke at their own pace and leisure. Then score the sample and drop a ballot in the box.

I'd be willing to pick up a few dozen of the glass peanut pipes from these guys and give them out as door prizes after we're done.

thats a great idea. The way we passed that damn pipe around by the third pass I was so shit faced I could not believe it.

If you span the time each strainis smoked we will have a totally differant effect stone ect.

    ha ha

    Cheers

Rky and I were discussing that exact same thing. Our solution was similar.

Hand out all the samples at the beginning. Judge each one at your own discretion and turn in your ballot for voting on the last day.

Well, yea, it's pretty standard to get the samples and spread out the sampling over time. Then turn in your votes at the end.

There are as Rky said, a ton of campgrounds that toilets and quite a few also have showers.

    LMFAO!!!!!!

But then what will have to joke about until the next years meet? This years I expect to wake up to find you curled in a ball by a tree about 30 ft. from your camper, mumbling "wtf happened? where the fuck am i? look at the pretty unicorn!" :roffl:

I can play that role if y'alld like :bong-2: It was a blast trying all the new strains of quality smoke out there. If the next location isn't so damn high, (no pun intended) I'd have another quality day to smoke with everyone since the first day I was getting acclomated to the elevation. Useless, it almost seemed like the herb had no effect on you... 'course you've been in quality stuff for a long time.

So get this... I'm now the go-to guy at work for covering the overnight guy's vacations, which means that at least 4 times each year I'll be covering 7 straight overnight shifts and then getting the following 7 days off. Sooooooooo if the event were held during any of these weeks in 2011, I'd definitely be able to pull off a road trip if need be, or (hopefully) just fly out to wherever it will be held.

    Weeks Off:

    6/27 - 7/3

    8/8 - 8/14

    11/21 - 11/27

The vacation sheet hasn't made it all the way around again, so I'll have at least 1 more week off to add to that list. Not that I'm the determining factor, but I'd figure I'd throw that out there.

I think the August 8th - August 14th is the best week out of those choices. Probably a good choice overall. alot.

I was sort of thinking the week before labor day weekend, but thats just a guess on my part. And, it would mean people get back from the Meet-n-Greet to just turn right around and deal with Labor Day Weekend. Probably not the best idea.

I'm picking out a couple locations to propose and they're each lower in elevation and easily accessible.

I'll have names and locations soon. I'm waiting on replies back from property owners.

earliest planning is a good idea. People need time to plan and if they are like me well I have to plan around three differant crops covering irrigation, harvesting, storeing ect. Not that my personal problems are relavant just saying some of us have Major issues to cope with to go to a thing like this.

The second weekend of August works here. It falls well on the calendar too leaving some space before Labor day.

Rky- You have some private camping connections? Can't wait to see.

With the failure of Prop 19 my single avenue for a private group camp is a no go. I sounded out the intent of our group with the owners and was given a sympathetic but decisive no. Too much liability. If we were all card holders in Cali they would consider it...but that aint gonna be the case.

I'm searching for a State Camp group site along the Cali North coast. I'll get diligent and have some postings this weekend. The tough part is finding something attractive with a very private group site.

Well, just playing Devils advocate here, but August is hot as FUCK. Also, anyone who grows outdoor will not have harvested yet.

I would think maybe it's better to hold in the fall, when things are cool (not freezing balls cold) and the outdoor people have harvested.

    Just a thought.

Ok guys, been digging and found a place in Cali 2 hours from Fresno. It's remote, inexpensive, has a cabin, facilities and room for tents.

Forest Service outline of the cabin.

If the second link doesn't work plug this latitude and longitude into Google Earth

    Latitude 36°51'44.16"N

    Longitude 119° 7'22.26"W

Where ever we go I think this is the type of place we should be looking for. I know Colorado has an extensive remote cabin and yurt system available through the State Forest Service that is available for public use.

Rky has found a similar place on Lake Granby in Colorado accessible only by boat. We have enough access to trailer boats and a pontoon rental to allow ferrying of attendees.

The boat idea is about as remote as your gonna get. I like staying in a camper but what the hell Im game for something like that.

I have a 16 ft bayliner boat and rky has one also to take people accross

Might be kick ass to be on a lake. Fishing, Water skiing ect.

I've got a little river runner jon with an outboard on a trailer. She be tiny but can be dropped anywhere and run in 6 inches of water. Good for running upriver after sneaky trout.

Lake Granby, back in Grand Cove, where the water feeds from Grand lake. The cove is easily accessible by boat and NOTHING else . . . maybe on foot if people are hiking the Colorado Trail, which is a mile or so away from the site.

Excellent fishing, with BIG fish and a nice variety . . .

About: - Lake Granby: is the second largest body of water in Colorado. The lake has 40 miles of shoreline. Lake Granby is part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area (ANRA) which encompasses five lakes and reservoirs at the upper end of the Colorado River Valley.

Directions:Lake Granby is off U.S. 34 north about 5 miles from Granby.

Grand Lake is the largest natural body of water in Colorado and the highest yacht anchorage in the world. It is situated at the western gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and the beginning of incredible Trail Ridge Road, home to some of the most fantastic scenery in Colorado.

Anglers will find rainbow, brook, mackinaw and cutthroat trout in abundance and large kokanee salmon as well. Grand Lake, as well as man-made Shadow Mountain, Willow Creek and Granby Reservoirs are home to excellent fishing and over 150 miles of shoreline.

    http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/rockymtn/arapinfo.htm

The camping site has two real picnic tables, wood burning stove (home made), fire ring with grate, an outhouse and PLENTY of firewood!

This is a kick ass spot and very unique. I know with my 16' boat, Res's boat, T6's boat and a possible pontoon rental, we'll have an outstanding time on the lake puffin tough in the seclusion of our own shoreline.

I've thought long and hard about this spot and the ONLY disadvantage is the pontoon rental, which I know someone with a pontoon and we might be able to have one for free, but most likely we'll have to pay roughly $100 a day for a 4 day rental . . . and thats just my guess, not the actual price.

But, with a 12 person pontoon boat, we can all go fishing and smoking and cruising the lake. ;)

    Ok, here's some pics . . .

I uploaded it to PhotoBucket, so noone would see the uploaded pics. ;)

You can clearly see the cabin and vaguely see the fire ring and picnic area near the shoreline, in the trees. ;)

I forgot to mention the Osprey (sp) and the Eagles with their little ones, Moose and a variety of other wildlife.

Seems we now have two viable locations in both states. You guys have any feedback or other sites to add?
