Last minute throw for Cali, but I already knew Colorado was in the bag with 4 votes on the board. More of a suggestion towards 2012. Colo it is. Good times ahead. Let's throw some dates around. I'd still like to fall in line with the Alma THC fest. It should be the weekend of August 20. Could make for a cool place to hit one day. Anybody else?
Depending on the location, the THC Festival isn't out of the question. From the spots I've looked into so far; Granby boat camp and Colorado River Bond, CO area, each are about a 2 hour drive to Alma. If we did the Granby Boat-Camp spot, we would have plenty to do right at the lake and the surrounding area, so traveling wouldn't be necessary to keep occupied. The Colorado River, Bond, CO area is really great fishing, rafting, hiking and easy access to multiple other recreation areas. There is another place I was think of; the same location that hold the 20+year Annual "Bong-a-Thon". It's just outside of Denver in the Idaho Springs area. It's close to the city and close to the mountains but it isn't wilderness camping by any stretch of the imagination. The great Sand Dunes and the surrounding Sangre de Cristo mountains are extremely kick ass. "Never Summer Mountain Range", is also another AMAZING area. The Telluride area is kick ass and the festivals are world class. Lots of choices and plenty of time. :alienwink:
Lots of choices Rky but little time. We should get this figured within a week or so and up on the board so folks can plan if they are going. Exact location can wait..when needs to be finished. I'm all for anything within a couple hours of the Festival. It'd be awesome strolling a concert ground in GK hoodies blowing joints. The Sand Dunes? Been there, less than exciting. It's also a tough area to get to if anybody actually flies in. Plus, without any major east west highways entering the Sangre de Cristo area it adds 2 hours to Cali folks drive and at least a couple for anybody coming from the east. Telluride area rocks, cool with the Lake Granby deal too. I'm going to look up some forest service cabins and see what we can lay our hands on. But for now lets get the date ironed out. Month first. August is my vote.
Sounds good to me. I mentioned the Sand Dunes because the mountains around there are SUPER beautiful. Some of the best I've ever seen. Majestic if you will. But, I understand your reasoning . . . I'm good with whatever month we decide on. I think August is fine . . . a month earlier will make all the difference in the world in the High Country. Toss up a poll and let's decide on a month. :alienwink:
Gone fishing . . . Due to recent events, I have decided to step away from any and all activities/duties involving GK until I resolve some issues. Fairness is essential to me, so I need to determine if I still have an interest in being part of something I feel is less than fair to ALL those involved. I promise I will let you all know before Saturday if I plan on remaining part of GK and/or this committee or not, if thats ok. I just don't want to disappear without notice. I appreciate your understanding in this matter. Thanks!
Seems we're on hold for a few days. Whatever the outcome Rky I want you to know everything you've done and contributed has been above and beyond expectations. :not-worthy: Thank you so very much my friend. To the committee- Whether Rky chooses to participate further or not, the planning and event will still continue. Again, thank you for everything you've done to bring us this far Rky. It couldn't have happened without you. This door will remain forever open to you as an honored founder and the first ever NAGC Cup winner.
I totally agree! Rocky I never saw a more gracious host trying to make everybody comfortable at a gathering ever! Who else would get out of bed at 3am in the morning to greet somebody at this hour and sit and smoke a bowl with them. Only our Rocky Teamster6
well, I wanted to come on here and let you all know that I will follow through with my commitments regarding this committee and the Meet-n-Greet event. That doesn't change how i feel about how things went down, but thats water under the bridge and I refuse to let the past govern my life. Anyway . . . I've already made several promises regarding camping equipment and it wouldn't be right for me to leave you all hanging on this. I am there 100% just the same as I was before all this bullshit. I love :GK: and it's the ONLY website I am a member of other than to preserve my username. I've given my ALL to this site and everyone who I've come in contact with from this site. So, I can't see changing that because of some inconsistencies. So without further ado . . . I would like to thank you all for your understanding in this matter. Let's plan a Meet-n-Greet! :alienwink:
I will say that I made my comment about wanting to think about my participation in the future of this committee and the event, HERE in the "out of sight" lounge as to not drag any unnecessary doubt to the membership planning on or thinking of attending. Well, so much for that . . . I posted a reply to dlr42 and then just hours later people are openly saying I may not attend . . . again sort of disheartening . . . My intent was to have some time to think things over without dragging this BACK out into the forums. GEEEZ! You guys would SUCK as spies! Whats done is done . . . Let move on! :alienwink:
