Ok, much delayed but not forgotten, a few choices for location. 1. http://www.us-parks.com/camping/co/carnero-guard-station-campground.html 2. http://www.us-parks.com/camping/co/bassam-cabin-campground.html 3. http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Basam_Cabin_Co/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=73780&topTabIndex=CampingSpot 4. http://www.us-parks.com/camping/co/piney-guard-station-campground.html 5. http://www.huts.org/hut_details/10th_hut_details.html 6. http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/recreation/rentals/brochures/circletcabin.pdf 7. http://activities.wildernet.com/pages/activity.cfm?actid=021302IO*1495o&areaid=CO&rectype=Other&startrecord=1&fromPage=summary&CU_ID=1 8. here's the one Rky was floating earlier. Lake Granby, access by boat only. He said it has pit or vault toilets. I can bring a 14ft fishing jon and motor to transport gear/people. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lake+Granby,+CO&aq=0&sll=39.97712,-106.907959&sspn=2.378197,4.938354&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lake+Granby&ll=40.166806,-105.811386&spn=0.148231,0.308647&t=h&z=12 Rky will have to update us with a more exact location and description. Waiting to hear back on allowing tents at a fire lookout cabin. Input? Discussion? Ideas?
Hey Res that Bassam cabin is already reserved for the last weeks of July plus is said 8 people max-Bud ps. 10th mountian weeks end booked already The tower No drinking ,drugs, guns, fireworks, they might be up tight because it's 55 feet in the air
Of Coarse we will have to look but the Gamby area is a place nobody would be able to mess with us because of no other access. t6
My two favorites are Piney http://www.us-parks.com/camping/co/piney-guard-station-campground.html and Lake Grandby. Both are close to a straight shot in from Denver so the drive is easier. Piney is still available. Thanks for checking Bud. Those were stored in my bookmarks for quite awhile and I didn't review them before posting.
All I gotta do is show up with a 16ft cruiser and we have a tow boat to load one with shit and the other to carry passengers. t6
Yeah. I'm kinda down with the Granby site. Ever since it was first mentioned I've had my heart set on scarin Useless silly surfing the curls in the rapids on a jon boat. With the boat in tow there'll be extra cargo room and I might be able to lay my hands on an old army cabin tent. We could use that as a gathering spot and place for a few folks to sleep. Bet Ras could figure out a simple solar shower for the more timid who don't like cold water.
I've got a little solar shower and it's easy to rig up a nice little shower stall with some PVC pipe and panda film. :thumbs-up: As for site location you guys know the spots better than I. My vote is for wherever we will be the most secluded and least likely to be bothered by any authority figures like rangers or wardens. A large body of water is always a plus to have nearby.
Shiiiiiatttte! Quit huffing the paint dude. I'll show you how to surf a boat biacth! I am from Surf City California. If it floats, I can ride a wave with it! I am sure a 5 MPH current is hauling ass to your old ass, but a little kiddy pond ain't shit compared to our big mother blue! And what's that about you picking up fishing johns? I mean if you gotta sell your ass for money that's one thing, but to the fishermen during the MnG? Damn Res, you truly have no class. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OK sounds better with a xanax hangover and no coffee in me yet, but I am sure I will still laugh later.
As I smoke this hit of bomb hash I am having evil thoughts of sharing some of this with to guys I know who will be at the meet. Then they will both be on water ski's behind my boat. Revenge! t6
I'll be on a ski T6. Get me high enough and I might even try a flip with predictably disastrous results. Anything to pull a nice hash buzz. Use- We'll see how badass your boat surfing is when you're 4 inches off the water in a flimsy hunk of aluminum.
Had a with Rky chat yesterday. He's just not into GK at the moment and is doing life. We're going to meet in late March for dinner and a asssit: when I roll through his neck of the woods. We discussed the cabins and the lake site. Rky is still really concerned about small boats and getting to and from the camp site. I, on the other hand, am not. Being a MN boy and used to large lakes the idea of a reservoir doesn't seem like a big deal for a decent jon and a small ski boat. Shit, I've run 26 miles of open Lake Superior water in a 16 footer. Just gotta be smart. He did voice concern about the Forest Service cabin and the idea that we run the risk of getting checked by Fed Park Service rather than Colorado Forest Service. All things considered I'm a Granby advocate. Cost of the cabin and the possibility of needing to rent a pontoon for a few days is the same $$ so I'll go with security.
Im not scared in a 16 foot ski boat on a res like that!!! You ought to see what its like being on lake powell in a thunderstorm with 15 foot high waves!! Long as we dont overload we are perfectly safe. Unfortunate about Rocky I miss him. Hope you will get him back when you meet!! t6
Well, tell Rky to PM me some pics of the Bubba Thai and Bangkok Betty if he ain't into posting here atm! Either here or 420G. :thumbs-up:
That's the impression a had/have. He's alive and well on FB; even wished Bully a Happy BD! He's a good guy. He'll come around.
Yeah, I miss Rky....... Tell him the mrs and I say hello and wish him Irie vibes. He's not on my Facebook, but We hope he finds his way back to GK eventually.
