Update.


Still growing. Starting to show sex now. It looks like 6 females out of 8 seeds. Pretty damn good. I'll be keeping the best looking male to make more seeds and maybe do some crosses.


The Sharks will be coming down in less than a week so At that point, I'll clone these and start the females flowering.

@ link---those trimmers look like they wold save a lot of time, but in So Cal, patients and dispensaries are pretty picky and discerning when it comes to how the bud is trimmed. If there's leaf material that isn't trimmed off they don't even want to look at it. Trimmers seem to clip everything even with the bud but leave lots of leaf. To me that's fine, but to completely anal retentive people down here it just isn't good enough. I'm a pretty lazy trimmer since I don't donate much, if any to dispensaries so I would use one for my own meds.

 

Not every bud is perfectly round either. So depending on the bud structure you could end up chopping a lot of bud off while tumbling them around in that trimmer. I would be interested in trying one out on a trial basis, but I don't wanna spend several hundred dollars just to try it out. Even those hand crank ones are expensive.


Here is Cali, using trimming crews is pretty standard operating procedure for anyone growing larger amounts. Right now I only have one trimmer that helps me. I may look into a machine to help out with some of the work though. I dunno. I saw a guy on craigslist advertising his trimming machine for rent. Maybe I could talk to my Hydro Store guy and see if he has a unit to rent from him or something so I can try it out before committing to purchasing one. If it saved me the ganja I pay to my trimmer for helping for oe grow, it would probably pay for itself within a couple harvests. I dunno. I'll have to look into it further. asssit:

 

Yeah the trimmer definitely won't trim perfectly, his buds were fairly nice, but looked like they could use a little hand trimming on top of it. How about this: I'll borrow his Tumble Trimmer from my grower buddy this fall and do a report on the results. He's offered to lend me the trimmer before, but I told him that I prefer to do it by hand...... I dunno what I was thinking. Thankfully I also have one person to help me trim, cause trimming by yourself sucks real bad

 

Waiting for a smoke report on this one Ras. Wanna see just how good this stuff is.


Trimming Yuk one of my least favorite things. Boreing time consumeing and just a real pain. Some are easier to trim than others. What is needed is a easy strain to trim with a high potency instead of all the fuckin leaves aaaaaaah

It'll be a little while for the smoke report. They are still vegging. They should be ready for flower in a week or so. I still gotta take some clones and setup a spot to maybe flower out one of the males so I can bag up some pollen for future use.


It looks like a great ratio of males to females again with these Mr. Nice. It's looking like 6 out of 8 are females. Not too bad. All are vigorous growers and looking fairly uniform.

Today the Med Man girls are getting moved to the flower room. I took clones of each one and did a trim up of all the girls. I ended up with 6 females out of 8 seeds. Good ratio.


Out of the 2 males I had one very tall and lanky male and one nice short compact male. I chose to keep the shorter more compact male for seed making. I plan to take some female clones of various strains and put them outdoors sometime in late July along side a clone of the selected male and I will get some more med man seeds as well as several crosses to play around with later.

The Med Man are in their first week of flowering now. Only a few days in at this point. They are looking good. Hopefully I get something extraordinary in these 6 girls.

Quick update:


I'm scrapping the Med Man grow. I have clones of all 6 phenos and will try again, but I must say that I am overall unimpressed with these seeds. They germed well and grew fast, but I am having herm issues with them. Several have sprouted nanners at only week 4 so I'm pulling them. Gonna go to the Tahoe OG from Cali Connection and hope for much better results. I will be running the Med Man again after the Tahoe maybe. I'll update again and let you know what happens with them. I had a couple of t he Shark Shock show some late Nanners, but I attributed it to the nute def they were displaying, but this has me thinking that maybe I got some bunk seeds from Mr Nice with high hermie rates. I dunno, I'll keep ya posted. asssit:

 

I dunno Res, out of the 6 females I had going, at least 4 or 5 of them had multiple nanners throughout the plant at week 5 so I had no choice but to yank em and trash em. It hurt too. I just cut them down and they were smelling really nice. Sort of reminiscent of Train Wreck. I really dig the smell of them. They were all tall and lanky looking more like they lean to the sat side of things, but the buds were developing nicely and were frosty as hell. It sucks about the nanners. asssit: I dunno what environmental factor could have caused them to herm out so early into flower. Everything else I grow in the same room has never hermed out on me.


I have clones of all 6 of them so I can try them again in a couple months if I want to. Plus I have 10 more seeds.

 

Ras sorry to hear about it . I think I have a suggestion for you. Remember the pick of you germinating your seeds on top of your DVR set. Well I heard germinating on hot things such as heat mat. Will cause hermie plants.

 

:wtf?:I've never heard that.... From anyone. I always germ the same way and have never had any issues with any other seeds. Not to mention that they make seed heating mats specifically for heating seeds to facilitate the germing process and speed things up.


I dunno where you heard that, but I would need to see some scientific data to back that up before I alter my style of germination. asssit:
