So far it looks like the first 4 lemonberry may all be males. I'm starting to see what looks like those male sacks starting to develop. I'll know for sure by the end of the week if not sooner.

And,


Let me get this straight, you are flowering those seedlings, taking clones from them to put back in veg and use as mothers??


Why not just let all the seedlings continue vegging and flower the CLONES taken from those seedlings to distinguish sex??


furthermore, I would like to know, would keeping a mother plant that was grown from seed instead of clone make any difference? or would you want to take a clone from that seedling and make that clone your mother? what is the difference there??

Im confused...you put them into flower when they were a month old? My plants never have alternating nodes that early. Did yours? Does this mean you dont HABE to wait to maturity to flower?

People want to wait for sexual maturity (alt. Nodes) because it gives them the highest yield possible. Technically, you can flower a plant at any time, regardless of sexual maturity.


MR GJ is flowering them early to determine sex, not try to pull a fat harvest...

Helps tremendously! Yet another misconception cleared up. So...if you flower early to determine sex...do you THEN go back to veg? Or just go with it and keep flowering?

First let me point out some things about this grow.


The lemonberry seeds are from a new seed company called fusion. The seeds are not a stabilized version yet from my understanding, so getting a bunch of males would not surprise me. The beta testers will document their grows and the seed company wants to know what kind of Lady's come from the grows and the quality of the buds. Based on this info the seed company will make changes to the future seeds to make them stable with the characteristic's they and the growers are looking for.


First, Krond, I flowered them early because they are not stabilized and I have twelve of them and have limited space for all twelve in the vegging chamber.


I normally take cutting from plants grown from seed. I tag the clones so I know the plant each one comes from. When The plants in the flower chamber show their sex I will get rid of the males and get rid of the clones from the males unless I decide I want to produce some seeds from the next grow.


When the Girls finish flowering out and are harvested. I will take the clones that come from the plants I liked the most and they become a mother plant. Then I can reproduce that same plant 20 times if I like and get the same smoke and great plant every time.


Dixie, I do not put the flowering plant back into veg after I determine the sex.

Well I got rid of the first four that turned out to be males. I got 4 more that will be going into the flowering room in about three weeks. I'm pretty sure I'll get some females out of that batch.

Well I chopped the top of the 6 remaining lemonberry for clones.


Here is a group shot of the 6. I should be putting them into the flowering chamber in another week or so. Three are confirmed girls. I'm expecting good things out of this lemonberry. Thanks Fusion seed company.

Healthy little plants Mrgj:thumbs-up: They look similar in structure to mine. The really interesting comparisons will come during flowering though. I'm hoping to get mine into the flowering room in a week or two as well. I still need to take clones from mine.

 

The girls


OK guys, out of the 12 seeds I got all 12 germinated. One died prematurely, one committed suicide by falling into a fan. Out of the ten left 7 were male and here are the 3 girls remaining. I just started to increase their feeding now. They are up to ten milliliters of Canna Substra Vega A 3-0-3 and the Canna Substra Vega B 1-3-5 two part formula for veg.


All Three will be put into the flowering room this weekend.
