So true. Hang in there :thumbs-up: If someone started a thread posting all the fuckups we all did, it would be 20 pages long! The experienced growers even mess up (albeit much less, I'm sure) and there's a reason they're experienced - they've learned the hard way - It's a lesson I have to remind my newbie ass when I do something dumb (like drop a huge carbon filter on a plant two weeks from harvest and obliterate half the plant!!!) I think one of the other girls bitched one time about repeatedly breaking buds off with her boobs as she leaned over her plants!:roffl: You'll do well, we're all rooting for you! :cheerleader: GTWT :XXhippylove:
Don't fret man, they will bounce right back with a little TLC. Like they said, we've all fucked up one way or another along the way. As long as you learn from your mistakes, you'll do just fine. Listen to Res about training, and you'll have big healthy bushes in no time. At least you shouldn't have to worry about bugs for a while! -tC
BB- Yep, just tie a string to the top and pull the plant over sideways as far as you can without snapping it then tie it off on the edge of the container. All those small nubs at the growth nodes are going to put out two stems plus the small shoots at the bottom. What you're doing is creating an even growth pattern by bringing them all to the same height. This allows the auxins (adventitious growth inducing hormones) to evenly distribute to each growth tip and allow each to develop a decent cola. With the destruction as it is this is a perfect time to learn this type of training. look at this as a learning tool...and a chance to grow bushes!
ok man should i let them recover a bit first?... or go to walmart get some string and tie them bitches up now?... i dont want to break the stem do i? i sooo nervous
Pinch the stems with your fingers; don't just try to bend. Take your time bending back-and-forth. I (although I haven't in awhile) use pipe cleaners and duct tape.
here they are bent and tied... lets see how these ladies react... OGK 1 maybe the only casualty as i heard a distinct snap... ssh OGK 2 OGK 3 OGK 4
Hey Bigbud214, wow! sorry for the growing pains so to speak. I'll be willing to bet you will be surprised how well they will come back I'll be watching. opcorn-2: opcorn-2:
I'd just do it now and be done with it. What you're looking for is something like this. OOPS! Didn't see you posted already. Perfect.
Thanks MrGJ and RR.... Im just worried about #1 i think its gonna die it definately snapped wahhhhh.... lol we shall see
Your plant can live through that as well. Just don't give up on it. Is it broken completely off? Can you post a pic of it? I've had a lot of breaks myself when tying plants down. I've never had a plant die after a break. Just dont give up on it.
SG420 it didnt make it was a severe break i tried to tape it but this morning it was completely wilted and obvious it was a fatal blow... the others all perked up nicely overnight... heres some pics of the ladies on teh way to recovery.... heres the fatality
OK, BB. This aint all that bad. Couple things you can do here. You can stand the stalk back up and take another run at taping it. You can do this by sort of making a "splint". Some people use honey as kind of a "glue" to reconnect broken stalks and branches. So forget tying that plant down. Just try to get it to where the stalk can bond again with it's broken piece. If the honey and the splint don't work, just leave it alone and water it as usual and see if what's left comes back. Questions...go for it. you know we all here to help.
SG420 there was just a hair like strand of fiber between the stump and the stalk... the 3 remaining OGK ladies will definately grow into strong bushy ladies with aprox 10 main colas each... at least thats how many little shoots are poking upward, and possibly more to come...i think this may ultiimately turn out to be a blessing.... so ill be pushing having my own grown bud by my bday... which is Valentines day... seeing i will need to veg a lil longer to let the shoots develope... so any thoughts on my choice of recovery nutes?... the AN No Shock seemed a good idea and seeing the hydro shop is no longer selling AN because they dont like the company... all AN nutes are 30% off... figure any shock reducer is a good thing seeing what the girls have been through... Being drugged, scalped, bentover, and tied to the bed, they had a rough day... the hygrozyme should eat any dead roots or anything killed by the off ... the hygrozyme is actually considered an enzymatic cleaner... and the great white is a root booster, myccorrhizzea, bacteria, and trichoderma innoculant... anything to boost teh root zone... any other suggestions for helping these ladies pump out some king sized colas??? heres what they r getting right now... once they are back to growing strong it will be back to the neptunes harvest, hygrozyme, occasional molasses, and bat quano seeing the OGK are N hogs, and epsom if Mg is needed... if they make it to flower ill switch to equal parts neptunes and molassess and will take suggestions on an organic bloom booster.... THANK YOU EVERYONE for the help and support and well wishes for my ladies BB
It's Buuly's BD on VD too :thumbs-up: (always looking for an excuse to show pics. of My Boys :thumbs-up: ) By looking at the pics, it looks like you're pulling on the fans. Try to attach at points at the nodes; keeping the fans out-of-it.
MrA Buddy is a way cool looking dog... Scotch my pit bull will be 2 on dec 17.... the pipe cleaners are actuallyinly around the meristem... all the fans are free and clear it just looks weird... ill try and get some better pics... thanks for pointing it out... i went back and double checked... im UBER paranoid now
yeah KP they do look better im just waiting to see some new growth take off... it is reassuring to see all the little branches and shoots perked upward.... just waiting and hoping to see the nubs start a new cola... HEY RAS... how are you feeling my ganjah brother? Hope you are on the mend... yeah you missed alot in a couple days with my grow huh?... see what an idiot i can be.. what do you think of my trim and tie job?
ok so i have a question... its been almost a week since tying down and the larger shoots that made it through the gassing are much taller than the smaller ones... so my initial guess is my canopy will be way uneven... do i now have to tie down the taller shoots??? they seem a lil thin and spindly to do that... any suggestions are greatly appreciated,,, sorry for the crappy pics these were taken with my web cam... OGK 3 OGK 4 OGK 2 Shinning Silver Haze... im a lil worried about her... and heres a look at the Pineapple Express clone i was gifted... she didnt have roots when i got her but shes doing well now... so any and all suggestions on how to proceed with the tied down ladies is encouraged and welcomed... i think im going to be happy with the end result... just a little bummed as i wanted my first grow to be traditional so i could watch the natural course of things... oh well looks like i did an ok job saving the ladies...
