the will be going into glass in a day or two... the paper bag is just to slow down the initial drying a lil...
Huh. I had a feeling there was a good reason you dont see too many blind photographers. Yep---that would be why. HUG Dix
thanks Slanted the stink is effectively eliminated by exhausting out the sewer drain... no need for filters except when i leave the door open to teh flower section then i can smll a lil sweet stink...
There are so many ways to dry weed. find what works best for you. I built a 20 gallon plastic tub with drying screens in it and a small electric fan in one end to help pull moisture out. works really well. When I started I would just place all the trimed buds in a large heavy duty paper bag and gently shake the bag a couple of times a day to mix up the buds. After about a week the buds were dry enough to jar. When you jar them up, make sure that you open the jar after 24 hrs and check the buds. If the buds have all stuck together and feel damp when you open it than they need to dry a while longer before you jar them. The buds ahould feel soft and plyable but not dry and crispy and crumbly. Than they are to dry. Open them up evry day for at least and hour if not more to let more moisture escape. I keep burping the jars till they feel dry but not crispy. If they get to dry than I take a small piece of paper towl and wett it than put it in the jar with the bud overnight than recheck in the morning. You will find the buds hav softened up and are not crispy any more. I hope that helps.:bong-2:
MrG that helps tremendously... do you just lay your buds on the screens... not hang them? I hung this plant for 2.5 days whole lol... then today i clipped off all the seperate shoots from the meristem... placed those in the paper bag... i just dont want to ruin the great advice ive put to good use and destroy the buds at this point... on your tub do you have a vent to pull fresh air in? or just exhaust with the fan? heres a macro of a small bud im trying to semi-quick dry edit: ok sorry i clicked submit before puttin pic up see below
You've got a real "way" with that camera man. You sure you don't do that shit professionally. You make that "normal" little bud look goregeous. Something about the composition of the pic. I've seen a ton of pics of a single bud but in that pic that thing looks stunning. Mad skills man. And Congrats on the nice harvest too. I can only hope I do so well when I'm up and running. Retiree
Thanks Retiree I did attend Rochester Institute of Technology after graduating High School... i was majoring in Professional Photographic Illustration.... but i got my masters in Parting and fucking up in school... never finished the program, sold all my pro level gear when i needed money and didnt take a pic for almost 20 yrs... between dialing in this new fixed lens camera and my new found passion for growing... my passion has been restored... as far as your harvest goes my new GK friend im sure you will do just fine... all i can say is once you decide how you will grow... get some advice from the amazing members here... and most importantly FOLLOW THE ADVICE GKers GIVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats the reason i will enjoy a nice harvest Peace and Thanks
When it comes to drying and curing as MrGj said, there is more than 1 way to achieve a proper dry and cure. Whatever you do, just make sure they are not too damp when you jar them up. Better off a little on the dry side than too moist. If they get a little too dry you can always moisten a piece of paper towel or a cotton ball and put it inside the jar for a few minutes at a time until they are as moist as you want them, then reseal the jar and continue curing.
Are you still stoned BB? Hard to stop toking your own weed. It's like a dog licking his dick...it's there, it's your's and feels good so why stop?
RR the only thing ive been smokin is that early chopped not properly dried or cured OGK... even with all that its still pretty sweet as the last few buds have been curing for about 3 weeks and they taste and smell soooo much better than the stuff that wasnt... the high is nice but i bet the remaining OGK will blow me away seeing how it gets to make it to maturity... i did make Qwiso from all the PEx trim and that is AMAZING... and i did just let a few buds hang until now and they have just been ground up and i am about to sample that... i must say the smell from grinding it is sooo heady... it tickles my nose and has an over rippened fruit smell with just a touch of a skunky note... but seeing that jar full of my own grown dank nuggets is sooooo tempting... i think hey did get a lil too dry before making it into the jar... so im trying to reconstitute them a bit... i will be getting those hunidor packs.... damn what are thay called again?
I used to use tortilla (flour not corn) but food usually has some kind of scent and or flavor so I stopped that and started using a little square of folded up paper towel moistened with a bit of R/O water. Put that in the jar for a few minutes and viola perfectly preserved buds with a hint of moisture.
well im not so sure about viola here lol as the paper towel has been in there for 30 mins now not much diff except the PT is a bit drier lol...
I never notice a smell. I like bread 'cause you just throw it in and the next day... Viola :thumbs-up:
Ohh quit yer whining! It'll remoisten. :roffl: Take 1/2 of the buds out of the jar and put the towel in and put the buds back in and cap it for another 1/2 hr and check it again. It might take an hour or two, I may have exaggerated the quickness a bit, a few minutes may be too quick, give it a bit longer, it WILL work perfectly. In fact I am doing the same thing at this very moment cuz some of my buds are over dry as well.:thumbs-up:
well i totally exaggerated saying seeing the jar full... lol i need a MUCH smaller jar to fill it...lol i CAN NOT believe how much that huge main bud shrunk... WWAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana: :dog-nana:
Bredren i totally agree im cryin like a baby and have no shame admitting it... im even throwin a lil tantrum.... plus not to mention i am worried its all show and no go...
Pussy, grab yer sack and man up. Boveda Humidity packs. Perfect size for quart jars. No fungus or mold from food products. Completely sterile so mold probability is lessened, controls humidity via a membrane similar to an R/O filter, drawing in moisture if the ambient RH is too high and releasing moisture when the RH is too low. $4 a pack at any tobacconist shoppe. Using these after drying has gotten me the best and most consistent long term cure....ever. http://www.bovedapacks.com/
