MrG Thank you so very much... thats high praise coming from you... and YEAH im TOTALLY hooked and hope i do this til i die Hydro finding GK made growing my first garden a doable prospect... I would have been so lost if not for the unselfish help I received here.
Ok Final Tally in case anyone wanted to know im satisfied with the dryness of my buds and they have been in jard for a couple days... i added Boveda 69% RH humidity packs it my jars... these things are an awesome idea... THANK YOU YET AGAIN RESINRUBBER... they work bi-directionally... they pull excess moisture out of the air in the jar and if it drops below 69% it adds moisture... they are designed for humidors and i like that they will keep my choice nuggs perfect with no worry of mold... they are 3.99 at a tobacco shop and for some reason the makers of DaBudda Vaporizer sell them on there website at 2.99 each which is cheaper than ordering them directly from the maker... they last 2 months so we shall see... ok sorry for the long winded intro... i wanted to post the final weigh in tallies for the 3 plants that made it to the end... Im happy for my first go'round here we go... Pineapple Express 28.2 gr O.G. Kush 30.8 gr Shinning Silver Haze 35.7 gr 3 plant total 94.7 gr so 3.38 oz total under a 400W HPS the SSH was 28" tall the OGK 25" the PEx 23" so im happy thats 1.27 oz per plant YAY... The OGK is AMAZING in taste smell and potency... she smells like a ripe fruity kush that tickles the nose.... she tastes very sweet with a touch of an earthy undertone thats smooooottttthhhhhhh... the effect is an instant head euphoria followed by a slow creep into the body... and lasts a couple hours... cant wait til shes fully cured mmmmmmm... the SSH smells like fresh lemons mixed with cotton candy... she tastes very similar also... she is definately an up heady high true to her sativa dominant traits shown during flower... the PEx had some issues in late flower and it affected teh end result... she finished as a solid mid grade smoke at best... oh well i have 3 in veg to do her justice...
I havent been able to get on line for a few days and just now got back on. This is the first thread I opened, LOL....hoping to read just what I did!! CONGRATZ ALL OVER THE PLACE!! YOU DID IT!!!! and more important...YOU SURVIVED!!!!! JNo matter how many grows in your future....you'll never forget this one. Excellent job---damn well done. HUG Dix
Whoa!!! OMG look at the growing skills on BB214! Damn those are some tall and fat flowering appendages on those lower branches. I guess that's one of the advantages of having a better lighting system that I have. Some of my last harvests flowering tops weren't as big as some of those flowers on the lower parts of those branches! Fuckin A! "You must spread some rep around before giving it to BB214 again."
Thanks Dix I appreciate all teh support you gave me throughout this grow... I am freakin thrilled to death to have managed over an oz a zip first go... but that sets teh bar high lol BP Thanks man yeah having an HID light helps but dude you have MAD skills with the equipment you use... I am in aw of your plants everytime i see them...
Nice job man. I bet your happy to have those down. Whats the deal with those humidity pack things though??? If they won't allow the bud to get less than 69% humidity they WILL mold out your bud. At least if you aren't opening the jars up daily.
sticky i was told about the hunidity packs from ResinRubber... he uses them for his cure... once the buds dry thats when i put them in the jars with the packs... the packs are designed for humidors to keep cigars at the desired level... they make 65, 69, and 72 percent... if they dont cause the cigars to mold i doubt it will have any problems.... to everyone who has congratulated me I thank you all very much... the reward is so worth the effort and anxiety
Right on!!! Fucking Right BUBBA! Glad to finally welcome you to the promised land. Now roll that shyte, light that shyte...SMOKE IT!!! Peace, JJb
If you're smoking out of the jars and will be opening them daily you probably won't have issues. If you're setting them aside while you smoke from others for any lengthy period of time you will get mold, no questions about it. I guess it also depends how moist they were going in. Just hate to see you work this hard and then lose bud to mold. I had it happen before and it sure does piss you off. Nice job on the grow again and just keep an eye on those.
Yeah it's my opinion that 65% is too high of humidity for long term storage of buds in an airtight container. Remember that those humidity discs are for Cigars which are made of Tobacco which has been cured, plus home humidors are made of wood, not mason jars and they aren't air tight. So sealing them up in jars with 65% humidity will definitely be a bad idea for long term storage. If the container/jar is air tight then as long as they are the proper moisture going in then they should store long term just fine without anything in the jars with them.
If the humidity packs are for cigars then they are probably "two way". If the humidity gets too high then the pack wicks the moisture, if it gets too low then it release some moisture.
yes MG they are a 2 way membrane... thye take excess moisture out if it is too high... then add it if its too low.... but be assured everyone thye are checked every day and i am smoking out of the jars... so they do get opened daily nopt to mention whenever i want a nose full of dank bud smell lol
Boveda Packs have been a part of my jars since 2009. Before those I kept buds in my humidor at 65%RH. This is cross section of a bud that resided at 65%RH for at least a couple months. The only time I've ever had mold was this last crop when I used an orange peel because I was too lazy to go to the shop. I like my buds to burn slow and even with a fresh feel to the touch. I will lay this caveat out there though. In my locale the RH for 6 months of the year is under 35% so I'm always working to retain long term moisture. This might not be such a good idea in Florida for example.
thats an awesome pic Res... my RH in my home hovers arround 30% for mot the year so im not worried about that... though the store only had 69% packs so i do open the jars daily... but man that bud sure does burn nice.... im sold on them... only thing is they are much bigger than i thought and a bit large for the quart size jars... anyways RR thanks ill be usin em...
I was on Nutrisystem for a couple months and every meal has one of those little (about one square inch) "dry" packs. They feel like they have some kind of granular stuff inside....anyway, I felt compelled to save them, LOL....and I have a BIG jar full. Y'all reckon sticking two or three of them in each curing jar might be about the same as a Boiveeda? Hmmmmmm...I KNEW they'd come in hyandy for something..... Also,a trick every cook knows...stick a saltine cracker or a teaspoon full of dry rice in any container of dry food, like flour, grits, cornmeal, cereal....) to absorb moisture....? Why couldnt you stick a cracker in the curing jar? just wonderin..... Dix
