Nirvana AK48 - 210W CFL Grow

michaeldank Thanks bro. Good luck with your AK's. Be careful with the Nitrogren as they dont like much at all. And as far as stretch yeah keep the bulbs close, within 2 inches. I have some White Widow and Bubblelicious vegging under flouro right now and I dont think theres a whole lot you can do to prevent that stretch early on. I think all seedlings stretch quite alot the first week but I could be wrong. Thats why I dont dare to put my bulbs too close for the first week above ground, afraid they will grow into bulb. What I do is start my seeds in cups and only fill them to 3/4 of the cup. After the first week I fill the cup up the rest of the way to the top and then put the plants right up to the bulbs. It might not be the correct way to do it but its working for me and the only way I really know how to right now, lol. Good luck bro.


Thanks for stopping by everyone. Ive been giving just plain water since saturday and the plants really havent yellowed at all so far. Just the lowest fan leaves and they have barely yellowed. Ill check the trichs again this saturday and see what they look like. I didnt know when to start flushing so I decided to go ahead and do it. Hopefully there will be some amber by the 19th! If not and if the plants can take it Ill just let em go till I think they are ready. Peace

 

I did a cfl grow and got almost 5 ounces dried off two plants one time. Keep up the good work virago420 :thumbsup:

After spending some quality time with my three ladys today Im now thinking Ill easily have 2 oz, maybe more. Maybe its wishful thinking :icon_scratch:. These buds have all filled in nicely and are really pretty damn dense. Ill check the trichs again saturday when I do the real update. Well I couldnt help myself and took one of the smaller buds that wasnt in direct light and hung it to dry. I rolled it tonight and only took 2 hits and I'm still blazed. I smoked an hour ago. And to think that bud was cut two weeks early? This shit is gonna be serious when prime . Thanks for looking folks. Peace out

Damn, must have missed this thread for a while. Great job with the cfl's! I love all kinds of flo's for vegging, but I've never flowered under any. Keep up the good work!

Nice Grow there Virago. :thumbsup: Hey skuzzy, I was useing four 125 watt High output cfls in a 2 foot deep by 3.5 feet wide and 4 feet high box when I grew those two plants and vegged and jogged them for 8 weeks before I started flowering. If you take your time with them and do it right than you can get some good weight. When I put them into flower they were mabe 12 to 13 inches tall and the canopy was very even across the top from triming off the shoots that were taller than the rest. I ended up with 8 to 12 main colas for each plant. Here is a picture of one of the plants buds loked like after harvest.

after this thread i have converted my small flower box 2X4X6 to cfl.


experimenting i have 2 85w 350w equivalent mounted and so far the plants seem happy.


virtually no heat guess i dont need that 400 + cfm fan now. LOL

What? :icon_scratch: No way that was grown under CFL's....:icon_confused: Haha way to represent the CFL's. Its been fun but I dont think its going to compare to the fun Ill have running a 400W HPS in my new box. I took a look at the trichs today and still dont see any amber. If anyone has followed from the beginning the plants are different ages. Plant #2 is approximately a month older than 1 and 3 but it was tortured early on. Well the trichs on #2 are 90% cloudy, on 1 and 3 it looks to be about 50% clear/cloudy. I intend to keep flowering them for at least a another week. They still havent yellowed all that bad, only lost a couple of the lowest fan leaves so if I have to take them farther to hit my target of 20% amber 80% cloudy I should be just fine :thumbsup:. This grow cost my very little in supplys, maybe $150, so I should make out just fine come harvest time. Thanks for watching along everyone, I really didnt think I would have much of a fan base for a little CFL grow but you guys have really made it worth while! One 68 watt CFL? You might be able to grow one small LST'd plant under it and get a bit of bud but dont expect the garden to look like mine. Im using 5 x 42W bulbs (150W equivalents) spread evenly over 3 plants and I'm still only going to get around 2 oz. But if you dont expect much yeild why the hell not! Theres only one way to learn.


The wife got home a while ago and I had her look through the scope. She see's a few amber on all 3 plants but they are still mostly clear/cloudy with the exception of two who is cloudy with a few amber. Ill check again about mid week and see what they look like. I wanted a more up energentic high but she loves the couch lock. Ill probably just take a few buds at random times and then next grow I will know exactly what ratio we like the best. :thumbsup:

Dont let them get too many amber trichs. It'll put you too sleep. I like to harvest a little early 10% amber ish. Nice and up high.

Well now Im starting to get worried haha. Ive been flushing now for 6 days. That bud I took a week ago and dried I'm still smoking a J of. Two hits and I'm good for a few hours. Tomorrow will be day 49 of 12/12. Like you say I dont want it to put me to sleep but Im sure the wife wont mind . Day 55 will give me 13 days of flushing. But there will probably be quite a few more amber by then. Talk to me EvilSkuzzi, what should a newb do? Thanks for the help! Peace

Leaving them another week will not do any harm. I just keep an eye on the trichs. They will tell you when. 8 weeks with AK48 isn’t going to create a mega couch lock. 9 to 10 weeks def will but 8 weeks won’t. Just watch the trichs and if you feel they need to come down at day 52 or 53 just chop um.


Flushing improves smoke not potency. Commercial growers don’t flush at all and buyers don’t care. It’s not mega important

 

Hey Virago, not all strains get amber trichs, so if all they do is get all cloudy and no amber than that's ok too. :thumbsup:
