As long as the conditions remain the same your still going to have problems unless your possibly spraying constantly. You must have a high humidity problem and your exhaust system is not taking care of it. If you stop the problem it will go away. Must somehow change the conditions that seem to be just right for the pm. t6
Temps are 68 night 75 day and RH is between 30% and 45%. I didnt think those parameters would cause PM. I am wondering if the cleaning I did missed something. maybe some spores were still lingering in the cabinet somewhere. I am going to replace my intake fan with a new one. I will be adding a Hepa intake filter to that. So i will be increasing my intake more. Also going to buy an oscilating fan to replace the window fan. maybe there were spores still hanging around in those. Then I m going gto reclean the flower room with a stronger bleach solution being careful to get every single nook and cranny. as well as spray my girls with one of the two suggested products. I never had this until i inherited cuts from a former friend. So far I have been lucky in that its a MINOR out break. Ive pulled the infected leaves and check daily for new evidence. Tomorrow I will be spraying the girls. Thank you everyone for advice and help, I greatly appreciate it.
The problem with PM is that it's very hardy as far as fungi go and it doesn't need as specific of an environment to thrive. It will grow in high or low humidity and in cool or warm temps. So I doubt hat it has anything to do with your specific setup BB. I would say that the problem lies in getting rid of all the spores. Just like spider mites, if you miss just a couple or an egg/spore, and they/it will come back. If you are keeping some larger bushes as moms; Personally I would take new cuts of them and ditch the large moms and grow out new ones from the cuts. It's hard to get every single leaf surface on a large plant without physically dunking the whole plant into the solution. Spraying just won't get every nook and cranny. Good luck brother, I'm sure you'll get it handled sooner or later.
From Ask Ed Powdery mildew spores float in the air and are everywhere. They need the proper conditions to germinate: a surface that contains nutrients on which they can grow, temperatures over 60?F (16-20 C), high humidity and a slightly acidic environment. Once the spore senses these conditions , it germinates, sending out a hyhae which seeks out a stomata. It enters the tissue and lives off its nutrients, eventually killing the tissue. The downy mildew powder you see on the leaf is the reproductive organ of the plant, which is releasing spores into the air. Once the spore germinates, it survives in a wider range of conditions. Lowering humidity does not eliminate the infection. There are several things you can do to eliminate it: Plant Shield is a foliar spray which kills many types of foliar and root fungus. It is not a chemical but a microbe, trichoderma harzianum strain T-22, which feasts on the fungus. It is totally harmless to non-fungal organisms so it is safe to use. It takes 2-10 days to control the disease. It is available from ITS: 800-375-1684 or 303-661-9546 t6
+1. I've used organocide which stinks of unwashed vag, but I've heard serenade is the way to go, it has a special bacterium that eats the fungus spores and is safe to use up to harvest. I dunno how it affects smoke as I've neevr used it, but based on what I've been told and read, it's hard if not impossible to beat for ridding a garden of fungus
Ras Thanks brother I WILL definately get it under control. I think my booster fan intake and window fan for circulation are the culprits. They were left over from previous runs. I sprayed and scrubbed with bleach as best I could, but probably missed something. YThat is why I am going to add a more powerful intake with a HEPA filter. No worries about missed spores. Also adding two new clip fans for circulation. Before installing this new equip I will be scouring and spraying the entire cabinetwith 20% bleach. While Im working on the room the ladies will be sprayed with a fungicide. While the room dries out and airs out the ladies will also dry. I will install the neww fans and then replace the girls. Hopefully that will irradicate the bitch known as PM. I do not currently keep any moms and the PM doesnt make an appearance until 4 wks of flower. T6 Thank you so very much for the specifc and detailed info. It is very helpful and confirms what I thought of PM. I seem to have many options for effective fungicide sprays. The afore mentioned Serenade, Zero Tolerence, Plant Shield as you mention, and I came across something called Garden Safer Fungicide which uses sulfur. Ive been told a sulfur burners are the best but wonder if a sulfur solution would be as efective. Im hoping the above stated plan will do the trick.
Been rereading and something occurred to me. A couple summers ago I was hit with a leaf fungus in my regular ornamental garden and used an H2O2 mix with very good results. 3 treatments and no more fungi. H2O2 is a natural fungicide and PM is just another fungus right?. Mix 1 part 3% h2o2 to 3 parts h2o and spray liberally. My guess is you could treat the room and plants at the same time. Since it's simply H2O2 you can use right up to harvest.
That makes sense but had already ought the serenade... maybe use the h2o2 once i know the issue has been resolved as a preventative. I cnt imagine spraying the serenade on the buds as the smell is noticable today. I wouldnt want to smoke that shit . the h2o2 wouldnt leave any residue right?
green house vaporizor Lightly mist all surfaces with water. Burn sulfur for 4 hours. Then repeat twice more at weekly intervals
I do not believe burning sulfur is an option as my grow closet is in my bedroom. And my whole condo is only 650sq/ft
Wouldnt the odor of sulfur cause concern in the rest of the condo complex? I live in an old factory converted into condos.
I have heard that a difference of around 10 degrees from day to night and higher humidity at night also is what triggers it. I get it every winter and it goes away when it warms up. I just put a space heater to keepthe temps within 5 degrees, hopefully that will get rid of it.
Great thread guys. I know its old but there is alot of great info here. My garden was hit with PM last year and it took me about 3 months to get it under control and I still have to take prevent measures or it will come back. I have not yet done a sulfur burn. I just treat at week 2 of bloom and again at week 5 and that keeps them clean but I want that shit gone. I grow in a small basement garden but use the whole basement so if I were to use a sulfur burner would that take care of all the spores in the entire basement?
If the vapor from the sulphur burner is allowed to be blown throughout the entire basement it should take care of your problem. I had the same issue. Once I got PM in my garden all I could do with sprays was keep it at bay but it would always come back and it ruined an entire crop for me. In Cali if a dispensary owner sees PM on your buds it's a "no deal" situation. I built a DIY sulphur burner and it worked like a champ. I combined it with hydrogen peroxide sprayings to eradicate it from my grow space. asssit:
