LOL Yea, I'm sure they do the same thing. They do look kinda cool, but I will say there are two down sides to them that the bags you are using are better about though. 1. retaining media and 2. more rigid like using normal pots. So you can't squeeze things in more tightly like you could with the bags. But that's no big deal. And the retaining media thing can be modified for improvement. When I put them together I put vinyl door screen on the bottom grates to keep media from flowing out the bottom on watering and so far that works great. So I will probably wrap the exterior of the pots with the same screen and secure with some zipties. One thing that seemed appealing to me is that the pots are fastened together with a plastic screw type deal. That and the plastic is very smooth and non-porous so after each cycle removing the root mas and cleaning up for the next round will be a breeze, or so I envision. lol
I love the dirt and the smart pots. Trouble is watering is laborious. I could probably rig a DTW scenario and save myself the crawling around on my hands and knees, but then at each chop I'm hauling out, and in, and up and down, yada yada when I could just be draining my res and throwing out rock wool and roots. Ordered two 2X4 tables that will be here Friday!
Yea I hear ya. Only reasons I went with hand watered was because I wanted to reduce the initial overhead, and because since these were all grown on different tables wanted to see how they could do as far as nute regimens. See if they could share or would have to be separated. Though things are looking good, I'll have to wait for the next round of other clones I'm waiting to receive. If they can perform the same then I'm definitely making a table. If not I may have to do some R&D to make a small split tray and a two separate res system.
I tried those air pots Skunky... I found them challenging to fill properly... And watering was a bitch as it would find quick exits out the large holes... I know it was because I didn't pack them correctly. I will say the root mass was DENSE!!!
Yeah I was thinking that would be an issue. So what I did was add media then pack slightly by hand then water and check. So far it hasn't been bad but I would rather it be none. LOL Though tables are still my all time fav for ease and their flexibility. I like aero a lot but hard to meet the accommodations a table can provide. I remember one of the first DIY E&F projects we tried we used a kiddie pool filled with broken up lava rocks and pea gravel. Just had plants in little net pots with the tiny RW cubes and the pool on an angle. LOL So if anything will either make a E&F or small aero setup. But that will be later on after I can assess everything I plan on keeping on hand if feeding requirements differ enough.
Five weeks into flower Feeding UF full strength. I lost the clones I had of each of these three female KQxBH. And I failed to label the current 8 plants on the table in week one of veg. So I can preserve all three phenos by taking clones of the batch currently in veg, but I won't know which of the three phenos the clones are. Oh well. They are all very similar anyway - stable strain if you ask me. Seriously, all three plants look identical, and look good. I love the structure of the plants, and I think with some real training ( I did little more the top these once and hastily trim out SOME undergrowth) they could be good producers. These are supposed to be 10 weekers, so 5 more to go. Apologies for pic quality.
Looking good FF... I screwed the pooch somewhere..... My plants are NOT getting fat. You are doing a great job
Day 43 (beginning of week 7) Bloom Lookin' good. I pawed all the buds - there's some chunk starting but nothing rock hard either. Good resin production though.
Just love when it's at that stage and starting to really fill out and put weight on. Coming along nicely. Not too much longer. :thumbs-up:
Thanks for looking bro! I know the pic quality is terrible. I'm getting the best camera I can afford before the year is out. I just gave each of the three plants a gallon of 7 week full strength UF. I'll give them plain water in two days, then one more shot of UF before I start to flush. I think that the beginning of week 7 is too late to try bloom boosters. :redbong:
Yeah it's a little late, but what can it hurt? Usually week 5 is ideal. On 10 week strains you can hold off till week 6.
First day of week 8 And flush. I gotta chop these at 9 weeks ready or not. I think they will be ready enough.
Thanks man. There's some chunk in there for sure. Its the best looking bud I've grown in a while. I was so busy with getting set up I neglected these plants some, and now I've needed to tie them up for a week and still haven't. Waiting an extra day between watering. That kinda shit. These were growing so fast and tall in veg I had to chop the trunk like 5 nodes down on one of them, and that had to shock the hell out of the plant. It still got tall, but with like 5 colas rather than one. The differences in the phenotypes are showing a bit now too. Overall I'm pleased, and I think with more careful training I can make this strain produce. It remains to be seen if it's a 9 weeker or not. I hope it is because I can't really work with it if it's a true 10 weeker.
