It's been a long while since I checked in on your grow man. You've come a long way in a short amount of time! Good for you!
Thanks a lot for looking in guys! Growing has definitely been educational to say the least. There are so many things I have to learn still!
Disco's Garden 3/25Here are this weeks pics! The Querkle has some slight spotting that I noticed, but no burns. It's still getting frosty, though. Overall, your plants are looking healthier than before and that Skydragon is one sweet looking girl. Do you grow perpetual?
Thanks for looking in, Link. I think they are looking better this time around, too. I just wish I could avoid the occasional nute mishap. I haven't had the HPS off for about 8 months now. Once something comes out, one or two things go in. Perpetual indeed. Which makes it a pain to take care of pests and nute issues when they arrive.
Disco's garden from 4/3/13Here are some of the Garden pics. My camera died before I could get all of them done. This will be my last run of the Querkle. It's given me much more trouble than I want to deal with, and I'm ready for variety. An LA Confidential Seed was planted yesterday, to begin the growing of a new strain. I may go back to Querkle someday, but I would like to get something else going. Querkle has been around for a year. I think that's long enough. The Sky Dragon will be revegged, if possible. I didn't take good clones of this early enough. Oh well, I guess... I still have 4 more seeds of this, and another one that I found in the last batch of SD. I just don't know if Sky Dragon was the one that hermied. It could be this exact pheno...Querkle @ Day 34 of 12/12 View attachment 17715 Sky Dragon @ Day 62 of 12/12 View attachment 17716 Crack Dragon @ day 29 of 12/12 View attachment 17717 PermaFrost @ day 29 of 12/12 View attachment 17718 Purple Kush @ Day 20 of 12/12 View attachment 17719 /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0458.JPG.1190573962680ca2496f08bde07117ed.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0453.JPG.ff6598b5412c840dc0ef24d25f111977.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0451.JPG.4f27c364c0fd10d2d423a855486bb6c3.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0450.JPG.634797aaad0800edb4d1e640d1bfa433.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0449.JPG.b638bf39bd54f3517e4dc08171bb07b2.JPG
Disco's flower garden 4/15/13Here is the garden for the week. The only issue I continue to have is a few mites here or there. I am getting better with the nutrients, though. I got the flu, so this won't be as detailed as normal. I'll post day counts in an edit later. The LA Confidential seed was a dud, so a Silver LA seed has been planted in its' place. Hopefully, this one will sprout above the soil.Purple Kush: View attachment 17749 Crack Dragon: View attachment 17750 PermaFrost: View attachment 17751 Querkle: View attachment 17752 /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0469.JPG.bd214cdce50b3a07403ccbed1107c2fb.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0478.JPG.d2cf8029dae99e3de20c01fd253ddaec.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0475.JPG.30767d72152e48e0a69550f80696a085.JPG /monthly_2013_04/DSCN0472.JPG.6ce961a11a98b69f2462dc26143ab1a4.JPG
The buds look pretty well formed. However, my man I hate to rain on your parade, but you have got more than a few mites here or there. You've got yourself a full on mite infestation going. I see webs and a lot of damage on those plants. I know because I've been there myself and know what it looks like. It's clear in your pics. I know you're deep into flower now so you probably don't want to spray them but you'll need to deal with them or the problem will plague you forever and get even worse.
Yeah, I am letting these ones finish flowering, and then changing locations. I will be starting fresh, in a little over a month. I can keep the vegging side under control, but this wed is the last day i can spray or treat with neem. I give the plants 3 weeks to get rid of the neem before chopping them. I found the main infestation point. It was the back corner of my growspace, where the Crack Dragon is. The same place where the auto that I have was exposed to them before moving it over.
maaaaan if you got mites the main infestation point is friggin everywhere. Those lil bastards spread like herpes in a frat house. Seriously, it always seemed to me like if someone had a single friggin mite then their grow was fucked and all their friends' grows were, too. I wish you the best of luck when you move and for the love of the gods keep that veg side clean, because you don't want a single mite-infested plant in your new place!
Yeah, I'll move the vegging plants over to their new place and bug bomb it. The new location shouldn't have anymore issues, because I won't be bringing in new strains unless it's from seed. I'd say I've been doing an alright job of keeping their numbers down with just neem. We shall see, though...
If all you are using is neem oil then you're in trouble. The neem is an antifeedant. That means that the mites must ingest it in order for it to kill them. That means that it doesn't kill eggs so there will always be a new generation just waiting in the wings to attack your plants. Secondly mites will build a tolerance to pesticides especially when they are used over and over without any other types of pesticides being used. So that means that over time you will be killing less and less of them with each treatment and eventually they will take over completely. If you are gonna be taking plants with you from your current space to your new space then you WILL be bringing mites with you to your new space. They are relentless. I recommend using Floramite before you move any of your plants. It works better than anything else I have tried. However be aware that it is NOT ORGANIC and is very strong. I treated with it and that is how I eventually rid myself of the little bastards! You only want to use it on vegetative plants not flowering ones as it lingers on the plant for some time. I believe it stays actively killing mites for 21 days after treatment and doesn't completely break down for several weeks. It's recommended that you never treat back to back with it. Always use something else the next time like neem or pyrethrin and don't use Floramite again for at least 6 months from the initial treatment. I only used it once and it did the trick. I bought a tiny bottle from a friend (it's illegal here in California) with like maybe 2 or 3 ounces in it and I only used like 4 ml to mix up 2 gal of spray. I still treat with neem and Ed Rosenthal's Zero Tolerance every now and again to make sure no bugs or fungus take hold again but I haven't had a mite in a long time now. Good luck with them man, they are seriously irritating little fuckers. asssit:
Thanks for the tips! I will definitely try to find this stuff, if I can. I know that AzaMax does an alright job, but I haven't wanted to use anything in flower. I've had plants in flower since July of last year, so it's been rough. I don't have the money or bud to wait the 10 weeks of flower that each cycle takes, so I do it perpetually. I'll hope that Neem will be enough to keep the plants alive for another 3-4 weeks. It worked for the Sky Dragon, and it looked much worse than any of the other girls as far as damage went. They are irritating little fuckers indeed! I'll give the veg side Azamax a few times before moving them over. I'll also try your suggestion too. I figured bombing the new locations veg room would be a good start, as well.
AzaMax is the same as neem oil. Same active ingredient and AzaMAx is made from azadirachtin extracted from neem and concentrated. You need to vary the type of pesticide. The active ingredient must be different. asssit:
I thought it had pyrethrum, too. I've got Mighty Wash that I can spray with for now, but I will definitely have to find alternative killers.
