Took the Kush out to look at Trichs and most of them are milky. I have about 5% amber right now. This seems like a perfect time to be cutting them down, but I am not sure how I would like to dry it yet. I'm getting ready to go out of town for a week, and don't want to leave my wife in charge of looking for mold. Am I over-thinking this, or is it smart not to harvest if I'm not going to be around? If I wait, the other plants are going to be close to ready for harvest, and then I am stuck with an empty flower room to get started in, again. I wanted to keep the 30 day cycle, but this kush fucked things up. I could have had at least one more plant, had I not chose the 10 gallon pot. What do you guys think? *Edit: Just gonna harvest it. I'll be able to check on it myself.*
you'll probably be fine chopping now. cut the branches so they have a few nodes in front of each cut and hang them on clothes hangers in a dark dry space. Leave em up for about 4 days then put em in jars. I seriously doubt you'll have a mold problem - your room seemed pretty dry when I saw it and if you find an equally dry space to hang em you'll be fine.
That's good to hear! I've got em hanging in the room on the outside of my tapestries. They should be pretty safe there. There's gonna be a decent amount of butter or hash made off this one. The buds were turning pinkish/purple. In a good way, though. The Querkles and the BB x TW, are both monsters in comparison. Here's the Kush before I cut it down: View attachment 17235 View attachment 17236 I'll take pics of the buds when I get back. Some are as big as my hand almost, which I happy with. /monthly_2012_10/100_2024.JPG.afbec1f359eda26581da2c5cafe854d2.JPG /monthly_2012_10/100_2025.JPG.4cf137057467f503b8d2cf97bcdbeb7a.JPG
ReCon and Querkle going into 12/12I decided to get these ladies into flower before they got much bigger. They were 27 inches tall before I transplanted them and tied them down. Judging by how the Querkle stretched the first two weeks, this one is going to be good sized. Here are the girls getting ready for flower (Querkle is on the left| ReCon is on the right: View attachment 17266 Here is one of the buds before trimming: View attachment 17267 I will never grow this Kush again, because it sucked. I only got 42 grams of buds that were worth it. I also got 65g of popcorn bud, that won't do anything except make hash or butter. It's in the glass jar curing now. /monthly_2012_10/100_2030.JPG.6d3812f557d8d16be1fc34e4e47bc5d3.JPG /monthly_2012_10/100_2029.JPG.c8369fe06f45552c5e4354bf233eb96d.JPG
Another week of the garden!I feel like my garden is coming along nicely, but there is a learning curve with the nutrients I have been using. Half the time, even half strength nutes are too much. There has been a lot of skipping nutrients this time around. The Querkle and the BB xTW are in the back, and the ReCon Clone is on the left: View attachment 17268 The Sour Diesel and hiding Blue Dragon: View attachment 17269 The flowers with a while to go ~38 days for BB x TW, but we shall see. I just recently changed nutes half way through the last flowering and boy did I cause my self problems. You plants still look pretty good still.:thumbs-up: Let me know how that Blueberry x Trainwreck and the Querkle are. I may look into them. :redbong:
The Blueberry x Trainwreck has been my favorite to grow so far. 5% amber trichs at 43 days of 12/12. It gets bigger by the day! Also, the smell is amazing! This isn't Humboldt Berry, so if you were looking for this cross... you'd want the Indica dominant one. Humboldt Berry, is Trainwreck x DJ's Blueberry.
Found female pre-flowers on my vegging Blue Dragon x Q. They are very tiny, but under a scope they can be seen clearly. There are two tiny white hairs coming in on some of the nodes. They are already covered in crystals, which is cool!
View attachment 17285 One of the Querkle was harvested today. The sugar leaves were starting to wilt on this one, and the other one looks twice as healthy. I figured I would allow the healthier plants to do their thing for another 10 days. The trichomes on the Querkle are milky, but the harvested one was not swelling up like the other Querkle. They were clones off the same plant, so I figured this one was as far as it was going to get.I'll post my weekly pics soon. /monthly_2012_11/100_2049.JPG.fe4cc0079d0d9857f7e92ef4e32fb710.JPG
Thanks Chaz! This one's not gonna be as amber as I'd like, but it should smoke pretty well. The Blueberry x Trainwreck has some buds as big as baseballs, so Querkle is not going to be cycled through as often. I may bush them out and veg them for three months, so I could justify running them. The yield is really low on this Querkle, when you compare the other one and the Blueberry. It's crystally as fuck, though!
Congrats on your first smoke! Don't forget to fill us in with a smoke report! And not to hijack your thread or anything, but yes I grew several rounds of permafrost and watched several friends' rounds grow, too. It's a great strain that comes out crystally and resinous no matter how hard you abuse it. PM me for specific questions and I'll be happy to discuss it more.
The flowering pics. Here is my weekly flowering update. Hey Disc, all of your plants look really awesome and have super fat colas. BBxTW came out the best. I noticed your plants are not that tall though, my question is.... How long do you vedge before you flip to 12/12? and one more... I noticed alot of the leaves on your plants are drying up and dying. You said its got 8 days left..so...Do you think even with being dry, are The Buds still growing in size and are fatning up? ....... (cause ones my AFK's leaves started to look like that, I wanted to pull, because the look of my leaves, made me think the growth just stops, and the plants just sit there?) ..Or is my idea wrong?...and the looks dont matter? Thanks, and sorry for going of topic.
The BB x TW definitely dominated the grow! The Querkles and BB were vegged for almost 2 months before putting them under the HPS at 12/12. I veg under about 300w of CFLs currently, so veg takes a little longer than I'd like. The blueberry doesn't seem to stretch much under the light. The reason I pulled my last Querkle, was because the sugar leaves were starting to wilt up. Since the fan leaves were already gone, the sugar leaves were trying to do the work. They got fried as well, so that was when I finally pulled. If you notice above... The sugar leaves are still going strong on the Querkle and BB x TW. I've seen growth and crystals every day so far. The dry leaves are also from about 3 weeks ago, when the FF nutes locked me out for a week. As far as I can tell, the fan leaves are the only area being effected. Going by the defoliation log, I would say that fan leaves are not as important as the sugar leaves. I'll do my own experiment, before I can confirm this. As far as size goes, I chose these plants for their indica dominent traits. With me being on a monthly harvest schedule, it is easier to fit the small and bushy plants. I flower my plants at 17-22 inches tall. Any more than this, and the Querkle would be massive. In the first two weeks of flower, this pheno stretches almost a foot. I ended up getting the Sativa traits, with indica flower time. I love it! You'll see a monster, once I get my Sour Diesel switched over to 12/12. The vegging plant is almost 3 feet tall now, and I hear SD does in fact triple in size during flower. We shall see, though. Either way, it's a beast in the making. Speaking of veg... I need to take those pics, when my wife gets back with the camera.
Update on the harvested Querkle: It was dry enough to trim and weigh out, and that plant only produced 29g. All of it was usable, but the plant was definitely stunted in comparison to the other Querkle. This is some potent weed! It needs to cure for a bit, but I had to try some with a friend. As I began to feel the stone behind my eyes, her eyes were glazed and slowly turning orange. All I could think about at the grocery store, was that I was too high to be shopping. Good times ahead, once the cure is done! Bud pics to come, even though the next one is going to put these buds to shame.
