Mine too, at least my mom's side. When my grandpa passed, we all went down to Florida where they lived and basically had a fun family get together. we went to his favorite beach and tossed his ashes off a pier he used to fish at, then had competitions trying to mimic his chili recipe, etc etc. Lots of stories, pictures, videos, and some tears of course, but I'm with you and Skuzz, it's a life to be celebrated. Some people cannot deal with this and think it's the most sick twisted thing ever, but for me, it is a way of letting go of an amazing life that I had the opportunity to be a part of.

And yes, we will grab some brews soon! I've been working like a dog in my new house, and I'm overdue for a break!

My family remebers a lost loved one with laughter, stories, foodand a celebration of their life. When I was 13 my grand father passed, he lived with us and was the first close person I lost. I remember after the funeral everyone ws at my house laughing and joking. I didnt nderstand at that age and ran and hid in my closet.

My dad passd 23 yrs ago I was 22 and he had a brief illness. To his day I can not vist the place hisashes are burried. instead visit the beach he loved just sitting at and bring a bottle of Candian Club. we share a drink.

Meories of your moms life is what will help you hea your loss. It ill always leave an empty place. You will find time maks it easier to accept.

  4. Yeah, I have a truly amazing group of friends and family. Have some flying in from all over the country, including some I haven't seen in probably 10 years. I went and set up everything today, and it was honestly such an easy thing, especially when everyone involved are friends of the family. The priest doing the services is the same one I had in grade school, has married most of my family, and has also done the services for all that have passed.

The.services and some of the special things we have planned are going to be beautiful. I ended up getting a plot 2 over from one of my favorite uncles (he kind of help take over with being the male role model in my life after my dad left) and right next to my childhood babysitter that was killed in a horrific accident. Got a double plot for me in the future, with the ability to add up to 2 more spots which can never be sold unless I give the ok.

We have a reservation for 50 people to do dinner at a nice restaurant, THAT is going to be a hell of a time, have a large group of us who are heading out to the bar the night of the wake, and then throwing a huge catered party the day of the funeral.

  8. Just wanted to give everyone an update. The past month has been hard. REALLY hard. Christmas was brutal.

After my mom passed, I asked my boss if it was possible to push up my yearly review by a few months as all the costs now associated with being a homeowner, funeral, ect. The number he came back with was literally a slap in the face, and when I told him so, they decided to fire me 5 days before christmas and called me greedy. I also had an accident that night that landed me in the ER.

Insurance money and rental property has me more then covered with the unemployment, So I will be more then fine for the near future, financially, but the time alone has really fucked with my mind a lot. I've weaned myself off of it, but I was on a ridiculous amount of xanax as well as drinking A LOT.

This has opened up a lot of potentials in life for me. I have a standing offer for a place to live and a job in CA. Would be nice to live in a med state and do what I love legally. Only time will tell if I decide to take that road or stay where I'm at.

Once again, thank you again to my family here at GK. Everything in life happens for a reason, and I truly believe that. Where the next few months land me, who knows. But Im kind of excited

Glad your excited. The depression of being home alone can suck, forget about everything you have been dealing with. I bet your bosses got a nice increase. Bastards. Good luck with your decisions. Hope the new year brings you happiness.
