Tony's #10 - Cream Caramel, Kandy Kush, Crit. Jack & Sadhu

Update @ Day 26 of 12/12


Things are starting to happen now! One thing, not so good, that I've never had a problem with before. Rather than the screen holding the branches down, the branches are pushing the screen up. It was just resting on brackets (you can see one in the upper left of the first photo), and I noticed the other day that the frame was actually "floating" above the brackets. So I wired the PVC pipe to the brackets, and that brought the whole thing down about 1.5 inches. It's still bulging up in the middle though.


Although this is a pain, I take it as a good sign. I've never had such a dense canopy before. And I'm really starting to get optimistic about this harvest. As you can see, we have arrived at the Q-Tip stage. And there are LOTS of those little white balls. If they continue on as they have been, I'll have a record harvest. I'm about due!

What'd I tell you? Lots of buds. The Critical Jack in particular is turning into one massive, branchy plant. And I think the rest pretty much speak for themselves.





Here's the Cream Caramel main cola. Considering we're not quite half way through, I think it's going to turn out pretty respectable. Those are Critical Jack buds in the background.





And here is the main cola of Sadhu 1. In the group shot, it's in the far right-rear corner, just to the left of the chain. It was stretching too far above the screen, so I had to tie it down. As you can see, it's just starting to turn back up toward the light.


I fed them again this week, and will continue to feed them every other watering for the next 2-3 weeks. They've also gotten quite thirsty. Which means now's the time they should be hitting their stride and packing on some weight. So be sure to check back next week to see if I'm right.

Leaf Bud!


I've heard the tales of the elusive and mysterious leaf bud, but never thought I'd ever actually see one myself in the wild. Lo and behold, yesterday I discovered a bud growing right out of a leaf on one of my Sadhu plants. Who'd have thought the legends were true. I'm taking this as a good omen.

I count a whole bunch of tops. They look great man, and that screen filled in better than i thought it would at first. It's gonna look awesome when they start beefing up and hopefully bring out some colors. :thumbs-up:

sweet! I've never had a leaf bud. I've seen the pictures on 420times/mags, but that's about it.

 

Update @ Day 33 of 12/12


Hump day has come and gone, and we are now in the home stretch. And the buds, they are a-poppin'. And let's not forget the aroma. I was starting to think these girls were going to be odorless, but no. Now when I open the cabinet doors I get hit with an overpowering sweet smell. None are very distinct aroma-wise though, except for maybe the Sadhu, which is a little more spicy than sweet.


Since it looks like their stretching days are over, and the canopy hasn't changed that much since last week, I thought I'd try something new. I put the camera in the left rear of the cabinet pointing out toward the right front. This is the result:





Pretty cool, eh? Looks like a freakin' forest. That's a darkroom louvre intake on the right side of the cabinet, in case you were wondering.


The Cream Caramel is mostly out of the picture off to the right in the foreground. That bud's that half off on the far right might belong to it. Most of the rest of the foreground is taken up with the Critical Jack's MANY colas. Across the middle are the two Kandy Kush, and bringing up the rear are the two Sadhu.





Here's a close-up of one of the Critical Jack's main colas. I topped it, so there are two. I'm not sure where the other one is. It's bent over sideways, and reaches from the middle to the right of the photo. That's another CJ cola on the left, as are all the others in the photo.





And here are both Sadhu's main colas. The one in the rear is the same one from last week's photo. The one on the right front is one of two main colas, as I topped that Sadhu. Both are bent over from left to right. And I found another bud leaf on that rear Sadhu, right next to the first.


I like the home stretch!

Then and Now


I've had this feeling that this grow is turning out to be my best ever. But just for the heck of it, I wanted to compare it to my last grow, also very successful yield-wise. For me anyway. I'll let the photos of the two grows speak for themselves:





What do you think? Will this grow yield more than the last one? Am I finally doing something right?

@teachme -- I've only been at this since the early 1980s, so yeah, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. But over the last 5-6 years, when I've been getting really serious about it, most of my problems have been the result of bad luck or, more often than not, stupidity/carelessness on my part. This is the first time I've not screwed anything up. Yet.


Again, I really do appreciate your comments. It's kinda tough getting all excited about how great things are going, but not being able to share my excitement with anyone. In real life. So it's great to be able to see what others are doing and show what I'm doing. Virtually.

Was in no way doubting your skills whatsoever or saying there was a problem with or lack of, was just commenting on what a better job you did filling in the screen more than your last grow(both which were great btw) is all i was saying bud. I hope you didn't read that the wrong way and i'm sorry if you did. Your thumbs are definitely green sir. Looks like your gonna have great harvest there! You really used that space well. :thumbs-up:
