Yeah "stimulus" They give us a check and we turn right around and hand it to the corporations. Its stimulating for the credit card and oil companies profits that's about it.

LOl hope they do not raise the price on Raman Oodles of Noodles too!!:5masked: You can do lots of things to doctor that up to make a meal when you need too...haha Throw in left over meat, onions and walahhh instant chinese food. ...hehe

Never got into spam but Pork Roll rocks... ;) Most of ya do not know about it as it is only sold in like ummmm 3 or 4 states here on the east coast but it is ymmmy!! Kinda like canadian bacon but not... ;) It comes from Jersey and it is not too pricey YET...LOL Nothing like a porkroll and egg with cheese sandwich.

Even PBJ is pricy anymore.....especially if ya love Skippy or your fave brand. I have learned to just buy in bulk when there is a good sale on items you can throw in the freezer or ones that have a longer shelf life.

I think everyone is feeling the pain of paying for food and gas plus bills. I am grateful my house is paid for and I am not a spender. Some of my frds are up to their eyeballs and then some in credit card debt yet they still go shopping for clothes they do not need? I can see if you really need something but right now is not the time to waste if you want to survive. Sure we all need to treat ourselves otherwise working gets old if you can not have some gratification from your hard earned dollars. Just in moderation otherwise you will find yourself on the streets in extreme cases as it will not get better anytime soon. Least they predict that we are headed for one hell of a ride. I too like my veggie garden and will be canning my tomatoes and such. I think I will buy another freezer with my rebate check to store all the fish I plan on catching and stock up on meat for my kiddes as not a redmeat person here. Been wanting another freezer for some time so maybe that is what I will purchase with mine.

Also been checking out the pellet stoves for the upcoming winter as another source of heat. Much cleaner and this way I do not have to chop wood ...hehe I do not mind doing manly work but being a lefty and the fact I write with my right hand due to my catholic mum.....well let's just say you do not want this chick holding an axe or knifes. I have issues with cutting and seems my brain just wants to do it as a right handed person and a left so yah I have had accidents trying to cut so I avoid knives.

Back to the Spam prices going up.....

Good grief...does that mean Little Debbie snacks which cost 99 cents will also sky rocket? I try to avoid sweets but I will admit I love the oatmeal cookies with cream inside every now and then.

I hear ya there. :ebert: We've stocked up on a few flats of ramen from Costco ourselves. ;)

I think storing food is a VERY smart thing. I'd say in all I've got at LEAST six months worth of food stored now and adding more all the time. It really adds up if you just put a few things away in the stores each time you go shopping. We've got toilet paper, feminine pads (for the girls), soaps, shampoos, first aid supplies, etc etc etc to go along with all the food as well. Never know what will happen with the way things are headed.....might not be able to get these sorts of things in the near future either. We've also stocked up on flour, sugar, and spices too. At the very least we're buying things while the prices are still within reason. :pottytrain1:

OH GOD, this one is great, though long, Does it only take TWO WEEKS for nuclear problems to disappear? Cause, that's all the supplies they brought with them...haha...

Oh sure...10-14 days that's it. You come out of the shelter, squint your eyes in the sun a bit, and see a fresh clean new world ready for repopulation. Now you just start :sex:

That is hilarious, I love how they're all just casually strolling into the shelter. Then after all the streets are lifeless, the one couple comes walking up to the door like there late for a movie or something. You know they're not getting in. :fingermad:

Hey guys, I normally don't buy into all the conspiracy theories or IMF/World Bank stuff, but I just watched a lecture by Lindsey Williams on YouTube that actually put everything together as to what is happening with the economy, Iraq, Iran, etc. After watching it, things just fell right into place.

Here is the link. Be sure to watch all 8 parts. It's very long, but I couldn't stop watching it. In fact, I got to the office late today because I had to watch the whole thing.

By the way, the videos are backwards. That is, part 1 is listed last.

I plan on watching those Alien....nice. :ebert:

Here's a couple good articles about oil and gas prices that everyone should read. Kinda goes in hand with the links Alien just posted.

The great oil swindle: How much did the Fed really know?

More on the real reason behind high oil prices

No matter what a person believes.....something is going on that is not in the public's best interest. Be it the NWO or something else entirely.....it's pretty safe to say that we are going to be on our own when the shit hits the fan. IMO it's best to be prepared in any case. As they say..."tis better to have and not need than to need and not have".

I watched all 8 of them yesterday afternoon, and other than him dragging that speech on much longer than it really needed to be, it was very interesting and makes complete sense. Unfortunately, I believe every word of it.

That's the thing. If there is ever to be an uprising in this country, we need to be sure we know who the enemy really is...and it's not the US government. They seem to be just as much a hostage as the rest of us. (maybe that's what they want us to think)

Illuminati and the Oil empire must be destroyed. :bash:

Just two days ago the headlines were trying to paint a rosey picture about how the weekly unemployment claims went down and how that shows we're skirting the 'recession'. Yesterday's headlines and now today's headlines show just how FULL OF SHIT those reports were. Most likely the ONLY reason jobless claims dropped is because people who HAD been on unemployment probably ran out of benefits. I know how that game is played...been there done that time after time being in construction. I still hold to my theory that we only have until August of this year then the shit REALLY gets thick. Hold on people....this ride is just getting started

Here's a good article about an underlying problem our financial system doesn't like to talk too much about. In effect this could be the straw that broke the camel's back. :icon_confused:

Now is the time to get cash for gold you no longer wear or want. Gawd I have so much from when I was married as my ex hubby was one to buy loads of jewlery when he messed up but I am not into materialistic stuff like that nor can I be bought. I mean yah I wore it to please him but it was his thing....not mine. If he ever paid attention I preferred silver to gold anywhos...haha When we divorced I told him to take it all but he said no and told me to hang onto it for our daughters but they to like silver like me. I may let them get money for it if they choose but that is their choice to make. They may decide to keep it for sentimental reasons but should they want to get cash to stash away for their future then so be it.

All I know is many pawn shops are offering top dollar for gold then compared to before this money issue hit the states. Guess due to the currency being backed by gold....not sure but it is worth more right now.

My brothers and I were talking about how bars and beer or alcohol companies due well in a recession as people drown their sorrows. LOL I guess they were thinking of opening up one but like I told them.....I think it is sad to reap money off the needy or people in crisis so I would take no part in it. I do have morals and they did agree with me when I explained why I felt it is sad that people are so down and out they spend their last dollars on a pricey beer at a pub. LOL I did tell them if they had a take out package goods where they only sold beer/alcohol then that was not as bad but in my town a beer at the pup can cost you 4.00 and up for a mug....sheshhhhh. Guess they need to pay for the insurance for if they get sued from bar fights or if someone gets caught drinking and driving? I would not want the worries or hassle of running a bar anywhos...nope had my share of living with an alcoholic. Not against drinking but I prefer happy drunks or people like me who can handle their beer and not get mean. ;)

We all do have one rocky ride and road ahead as it will not get better. We are one of the lowest right now of all states for gasoline prices but it is up to 4.00....I know most of you are paying more then that. Walking and riding bikes when you can is the best thing and getting rid of your V-8 vehicles to a more economical car. You can't even give away a big block now...like my bro was trying to sell his Ford king cab truck and he will never get what he paid for it or what it is worth. Sad thing is most people who have vehicles like that can't sell it for they will lose money and how the heck are they to have the money to buy a smaller one??? It really is awful and you see people worrying more and more about having money to put gas in their car or truck to get to work. Food prices are ridiculous....ughhh!! Why I buy bulk and find everything on sale to stock up. Growing more veggies is gonna help but lol I do think having a pig or cow for meat is a wonderful idea but being my lil one is so animal crazy she would name it and LOL that just would not be an option. My dad and bros hunt so they keep me stocked up of deer meat as my kids love it>>>I do not do red meats so no worries for me on that. Now I will be fishing more this summer to stock up on me fave fish ;) Got my new freezer chest with my rebate check and that will help and pay for itself. Now I can have the space to stock up on good deals on meats and frozen foods.

Still looking into those pellet stoves......we all need to think of other heating sources for the upcoming winter. ;) Just have to ruff this out and live like your poor even if you have money>>>it will run out sooner then ya think. Cutting corners and not wasting is a start for a family IMO. Luckily I was raised to be thrifty so that part does not affect me as much. It will be the spoiled ones who just do not know what going without things you do not need who will have a hard time coping. Maybe this nation needed to see that all good things come to an end if you over indulge?? Not saying like we deserve it but yanno what I mean....?? I look at the children today and gawd if a computer or cable goes out>>>you would think they lost their house. Maybe the people who do not enjoy nature as much as I do will learn to appreciate it?? I think we will see more people gardening and using the land as our ancestors did ......plus now things are so tight then you will not see lands being ripped thru for housing developments with mansions. Would hate to pay those household bills on a house that big...eeeekkk

Not saying I do not worry as I do but I am at least ahead of the game in the sense I know how to rough it and no job is beneath me around the house. I was raised with all brothers and a dad who made me strong so that helps. Was never spoiled and not a shopper unless it is for something we need. I have g/frds at work who are already wiggin out since they do not have the extra monies to go girly shopping for more clothes. I said well learn to sew as material can be cheaper if on sale. Used clothing stores are gettin more bizzness now and if it looks brand new ...who cares?

Yes we will feel this all over the nation.....just have to adjust to the new way of living. I do not understand fully why the gas is so friggin high even tho I hear many explanations but all I know is someone and many are getting rich off the poor. We just have to find other ways so we do not need it and drive their prices back down.

good info herb.....gonna read your new links but the other ones you sent me were very insightful and true.
