I honestly don't know the background of these plants. Wish I did. MrGJ tells me that the pheno I have looks like one of the phenos he has, but for me to say it's the real deal would not be being honest. I just know what I was told second hand. Here's the background story: Buddy of mine called up one day telling me that he was 'gifted' a small group of moms from a neighbor of his who was moving away. He had the plants at his place for a couple weeks, but he has too many people (mostly kids) at his home so asked if I could take them in and flower them out. I of course could not pass up such an opportunity and brought them here and had them outside for a few weeks while I ordered the parts for my new grow room and built it. The plants were way too thick and in need of pruning, rootbound, and seriously needing some nutes. I had no idea where I had stashed my old Metanaturals ferts so I made a compost tea to feed them with. I thought about transplanting them to larger pots with some compost, but at this point it pretty much would not have done any good.....they are flowering...not putting roots down. I didn't want to stress them any more than they had already been stressed. So they have been flowering indoors now on 12/12 ever since Dec 1st, but had already begun flowering naturally outside. I've had to deal with powdery mildew, spider mites, and now aphids (just found those last night). My growing abilities have been tested to the fullest to say the least. Nothing worse than introducing 'pests' from external sources, but I had no choice. Temps in the grow have been an issue as well. I picked up an oil filled radiant heater and use the fan speed controller on my fan to regulate temps. That part is working very well, but the slower fan speeds have made the 'smell' issue a bit more obvious. The carbon scrubber works great if the air flow creates a negative pressure in the room. Unfortunately I do have a bit of smell permeating since the fan is barely running. I just wanted air moving across the bulb in the cool tube enough to prevent any unseen problems from creeping up on me there. All in all it's been fun though. I'll just deal with what comes and limp this crop to the finish line. Thank you all for stopping by and checking out my return to indoor growing. I hope that future grows will get better.
Hey Herb I'm going to do a smoke report on the GSC I have. That shit is narcotic strong. WOW! :bravo:
Problem solving right from the get go. Guess the more things change the more....you know the rest. assit: No better way to put an edge on those rusty skills though.
No lie brotha. If these had stayed with my buddy...well...not sure there would be much left. I kinda look at it like the universe asking me...'how bad do ya want it?'. Nothing like jumping right back on that horse and riding full speed! :5obsessed: MrGJ...I tried a little taste lastnight. Had some branches that I had to nip off thanks to those friendly spider mites and I must say....with them just being dry enough to burn and no cure they weren't too bad. Tasted like shit and took a few strikes to get lit properly, but the smoke was smooth and the stone was nice. The finished product should be delectable. :redbong:
Ok...had everything pulled out of the room lastnight so I thought I'd get some pictures of the setup. It's nothing spectacular, but it works well. Here you can see the intake. I furred out a small section of the wall in order to make a plenum. On the other side of the wall I have an AC filter fitted in order to keep out dust and critters. Carbon scrubber....all ducting is 6" Here you see the ballast and penetration into the attic. The 430cfm fan is located up there. I hung it between the rafters with tie-down straps in order to minimize vibration. Don't have any pics of that just yet. Blue Dream tucked in next to the heater. I like to keep the canopy even so an old broken down cooler makes for a nice booster chair. Here you can see how large the trunks are on these bad girls.
It's hard to get a scale on the plants when they are in the grow room so I took shots while they were out. You'll have to excuse my mess in the garage. :jj: Girl Scout Cookies... Infinite Euphoria.... Blue Dream...
Shit...had the Album set to 'private'. :icon_confused: So sorry.....can everyone see the pictures now? See what happens when you smoke pot? :jj:
Thanks you guys. I owe their survival to GK. Without the knowledge I garnered here....these plants woulda been toast! Admin lynching
Bud (bug) Porn Been a while since I updated things so thought I'd post some pics and bring everyone up to speed. I've been harvesting for about a week or so now and I'm pretty happy despite all the issues I've had with these plants. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm actually growing again....who knows. :wtf?: In any case. I had sprayed for bugs again since the little bastards were taking over the grow room, and that helped a lot....for a short time. Soon the bugs were back with a vengeance. I'm not going to spray again. I just have to deal with it and take it in stride at this point. The powdery mildew was much less an issue than the bugs. You can see the little bastards in these pics below. Look carefully and you'll see them in there. I've counted at least four different types. Beautiful buds though. Harvest will be ongoing for the next week or so. I don't have a lot of time to devote to sitting down and trimming buds. In fact....it's my least favorite part of the whole gig. So I like to take the mature buds first and let the lower buds fill in a bit. This way I break the bouts of 'trimming' into smaller chunks and give the lower buds a chance to shine as well. So far I've taken all the tops from both the GSC and the Infinite Euphoria. The Blue Dream went a little longer but she too is starting to ripen up now. I'm going to give her a few more days, but DAMN she's a sexy beast already! I'll get some better shots when I pull her out of the room to take some colas off. In the meantime here's a couple shots. Notice the bugs under the leaves....did I mention that I have bugs? :kidding: That is all....Thanks for watching
no pest strips!!!! fine looking smoke you got goign there you need help smoking her? I aint afraid of a little bug
