The act of flipping the switch to 12/12 (indoors) is what initiates flowering.

    12/12 = Flowering

Your plants surely aren't veggin the first 2 weeks under 12/12, before you see flowers. They're starting to flower. It's a stage of FLOWERING, not veg.

Flip the :light: to 12/12 and you've begun flowering. To me it's as simple as that. No room for spin.:spin:

Outdoors is entirely different, like ResGanJah said.:alienwink: :affro:

Well, you all proved my wife right. I can start an arguement over anything. And again, does it really matter? We all end at the same time anyways. When I first posted this is was after somebody was wondering why theirs took longer than it was suppossed to. As long as your looking at the trichs and NOT the length of time. It's only a guide line.

And to continue my assholeness... why when you switch over at first isn't it considered a transition period to bring you to flower. You say it's to start flower, I say it's to end veg.:alienwink: :roffl: :anibong:

Veg has a strict photoperiod just like flower does.

Many flowering plants use a photoreceptor protein, such as phytochrome or cryptochrome, to sense seasonal changes in night length, or photoperiod, which they take as signals to flower.

So the "signal" to flower is the :light: change. When your indoors it's an abrupt thing and can be defined exactly by the day the :light: is switched to 12/12.

Wheter or not your willing to accept that is an entirely different story and I've stated all I can on the subject without breaking down each and every word and analyzing it to insanity.

The facts are the facts and a persons willingness to accept fact still doesn't change the fact.

Once again . . . outdoors this an entirely different story.

Great debate though. :) :ebert::alienwink: :affro:

    Yeah, Dixie

They need that N during the stretch period.

(just thought i'd toss that in there)

I always wait a week after I switch to 12/12 before I start to count. My way of thinking is the plant is stretching but is also still adding leaves. After about a week the leaves stop growing and then I start to count. I only do this with clones, wait the week that is. Hope that helps

So the breeders wouldn't consider the stretch of a plant induced to flower, into their "timeframe"? I'd have to argue that is PART of flowering . . . albeit the first stage.

I KNOW a veggin a plant won't cause it to stretch like flowering does. So, the stretch isn't part of the veggin process, it's part of the flowering process even though it requires N.

I understand WHY people think the first part of flowering isn't flowering, but it is. IMHO

LOL OK guys. I do believe that the flowering period starts at the beginning of 12/12, but I find most strains finish up where I like them, and thats all cloudy trichs and some amber. :bong-2:

I can accept fact. It's just such a difference in thinking and the breeders never say 12/12. The nutes do tho. But I also believe that's why the range that people have is so different. And like I've said in every post in this thread, does it really matter? Shit, I could not count at all and just look at the trichs every once in a while and still finish with-in a day or two. And I do agree that the light change does signal a change in the plant. I just disagree with it being instantly. I'm basically basing this on what my brain tells me about anything changing over to another phase in their life. It's not instant. It needs a transition period to adjust to it's turning over. But then again, some of the other voices in my head keep telling me to keep stock piling the ammo and still others say fuck it, do another bong. So many voices to listen to.I bet if I got them together, I could have some count from 12/12 and others from first sign of pistols and the bastards would take them out the same day.:flyy:

experience from trial an error is the best way to learn what works for me. IMO the only day you can be absolutely sure of in the process is the day they go to 12/12. i put that date on the side of each bucket. bud formation, signs of hairs or what ever is not always easy to pinpoint. after you've been thru the cycle a few times you'll know how long it takes for your shit. mine is 8 1/2 to 9 weeks from the date on the bucket.
